There were actually more politixal parties in the US. There major ones are Republicans and Democrats. When the US was younger, there were Federalists, Democratic-Republicans, Whigs, and Union (Abe Lincoln was the only Union because of the Civil War where is was Union versus Confederacy).
There are also very minor parties that people rarely hear of. |
