And I'll utilize a third post to add another example
for Number = 1,10 do --Number is the new variable that contains 1 as it adds up to ten
end
So, you see, using this can be not only easy but fun as well once you improve your understanding. |

Now I see,
while true do
local text = script.Parent.Text
local talk = {
"1.",
"2.",
"3."
}
text = script.Parent.Parent.Parent.Parent.Name.."you have been accused of".. talk[math.random(1,#talk)]
wait(3)
text = "This court finds you (filter problem :P) of your actions."
wait(3)
text = "You are sentenced to 3 months at Springcreek (filter problem :P) Facility."
wait(3)
text = "That may not a 'long' time, but it will be a (filter problem :P). You'll be lucky if you (filter problem :P)"

Well, I would suggest using the information you've found that has helped you, compiling it together and then combining it to extend your range of ideas, then comparing your ideas to the ideas from the Roblox Wiki to see if there's a better alternative for that situation, if you think there is, work on developing your own alternatives and try to experiment to develop new methods to perform things that you have little to no problem doing the regular method you would use.
That's just a suggestion ... |
|
|
Good to see that you found a method that works sufficiently for you, I would suggest that you keep using it as much as you want. |
|
|
Now I see the problem, you used OnClicked instead of onClicked. |
|
|
For example, "if" I used something such as,
if 1+1 == 2 then
print("Correct")
end
it would print "Correct" because the conditions are "true".
Another example would be,
if 1+1 == 2 and 2+2 == 4 then
print("Correct")
end
that would print "Correct" because both conditions are "true".
However, if I used,
if 1+1 == 3 then
print("Wrong")
elseif 1+1 == 2 then
print("Correct")
end
since 1+1 isn't equal to 3, it would check the second one to see if that condition is correct, and since it is, it would pr... |

":GetChildren()" returns the table of the object.
Are you trying to check to see if the object is already inside of the table?, if you are then you could try something such as,
Tab = {}
for i,v in pairs(game.ServerStorage.SpawnItems:GetChildren()) do
if Tab[v] == nil then
table.insert(Tab,v.Name)
end
end |

Determining which aspect of scripting is "Advanced" or not at some point becomes a matter of personal opinion, I would suggest looking at the online edition of one of the Lua books found on Lua.org as there's plenty of information there on many subjects, I would also suggest merging the basic concepts you know and restructuring them in different ways to see what kind of effect you get, for more information,
http://www.lua.org/pil/contents.html
there's links to other websites to help you learn al... |
|
|
I would personally suggest that once you decide on a subject, try to interpret what you read into your own understanding and then practice using the concepts you retain and try to restructure them in different ways to see what the results are, I would also suggest that you don't rush while learning or you may become overwhelmed by the information and remember that it's your style of scripting, not a different persons. |
|
|
I was actually reminding you of the rule against it, although I could see how it would be considered as "Minimodding". |
|
|
I don't see any thing I would consider negative about your character's current appearance. Also, are you sure you're giving the game enough time to load all of the necessary data?. |
|
|
"its gonna suck like all the other events"
Not necessarily, we will just have to wait and see how well they've planned the event out.
I'm hoping it's in a setting with other users for the collaborative discussion purposes. |
|
|
Farewell then, while I personally don't agree with the "see you tomorrow" remarks, you'll more then likely receive further aggression as it's common when responding to threads involving "Quitting Roblox". |
|
|
Well, it's your choice either way, regardless of our disagreements, also, I personally don't see the problem with using that Operating System, it's also a matter of opinion. |
|
|
"Well, my old one used a similar method to cleverscript, however it didn't work properly and just copied entire threads."
Don't worry then, trial and error while scripting helps you acquire new knowledge of the aspect you are trying to develop, It's essentially a puzzling yet entertaining challenge with multiple solutions; Over-all however, enjoy the project you're working on and I would suggest that you make multiple prototypes just to test features to see how well they would fit together or ... |
|
|
Actually, I'll extend my original statement somewhat further.
"You post a thread so other people see what you have to say
You're seeking their attention"
Although that may also be correct to a certain extent, the "type" of the attention the user is trying to receive also should be taken into consideration, if the user is trying to receive a large amount of negative attention for example and it's somewhat successful, the over-all results for that duration of time certainly won't be positive. |
|
|
I would suggest that you try using the "Roblox Wiki", It's the resource with the most information regarding the API of "Rbx.Lua" and the majority of the information works with generalized "Lua" scripting also,
http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=AllTutorials#Beginning_Scripting
Alternatively, there's also the "Lua.org" online book "Programming In Lua" which is very extensive in covering generalized Lua scripting,
http://www.lua.org/pil/contents.html
There's also plenty of "YouTube" tutoria... |
|
|
Actually, although I see you're interested in learning new information, It's unnecessary to create threads such as this consistently, I would suggest that you simply learn about the subjects you have interest in personally as each person has their own level of comprehension and interpretation. |
|
|
"good to see so many supporters doods"
Although I disagree with the aggressive responses, It's rather unnecessary to repeatedly refer other users to your account's on other websites. |
|
|
"nah i remember mutliple times where i make a completely valid point. only to see you run away LOLOLOL coward"
I never "ran away" from any of your "valid points", It would be unreasonable to expect each user to respond as quickly as they could to each of your statements.
You simply continue to utilize "Ad-Hominem" fueled insults rather than taking the non-aggressive statements of other users into positive consideration. |
|
|
"Do my eyes deceive me or do I see fixingtoaster?"
Quite an accurate analysis. |
|
|
"Saying Christians can't celebrate Halloween is like saying I cannot see an art piece I created."
Taking into recognition that the holiday itself contains "Celtic" origins, modifying it to fit the standards of another religion certainly doesn't change it's originating culture thus the analogy itself is rather inaccurate.
Anyway, however, this type of discussion itself is prohibited in the "Roblox Community Guidelines" simply because it's involving discussion of religious perspective. |
|
|
Alright.
If you're having problems outside of this interface, there's essentially nothing we can do to help you besides giving you advice, we simply aren't capable of solving your problems, especially since we aren't able to see you outside of a screen.
If utilizing the "Off-Topic" Sub-Section is causing you problems, simply stop reading and replying to threads here.
I'm going to suggest that you simply communicate with a professional such as a psychologist for your problems.

|
"I don't see how he was apparently take jokes seriously."
Ah, don't worry about it, It was simply a matter of contextual misinterpretation, It happens between each user on occasion. |

"I think it duz :3
Bcuz if u r dumb and almost have no knowledge, then your brain wont weigh that much
But if you know a lot, then your brain will be heavier. See! My logic bomb still works and it bombin it up! :D"
Actually, the quantity of "Neurons" involved certainly doesn't indicate a person's level of "Intelligence", It's the Neuron's capability to process the information and utilize it that determines this.
Regardless, though, only the individual themselves will have a very accurate ... |
