And I don't understand Chinese at all.) ...And on top of that, I don't know the alt codes for romanji elongated vowels, and I hate to copypasta from character tables to do it.

Well... 少し日本語を話すだ。 Sukoshi Nihongo o hanasu da. I speak some Japanese. WhackoMcGoose, on Windows, there are no alt codes for elongations. Not on Mac either, but there are for circumflexes, and those can work, too. alt+I+[vowel]. Maybe there is an elongation input, but I haven't discovered it yet.

"Sukoshi Nihongo (something) ka suru koto ga de sumasu." you said. Can't read the 入. Also, I am not impressed with your Google, Yahoo, whatever translation.

I think the kanji in question is 人 (ひと) or 人 (じん), both meaning person (though the latter is a suffix for nationalities). In that case, Nihonjin (Japanese person) is 日本人. The word he had didn't make sense because it had two suffixes. Boy, translator programs suck.

I know 人 is "jin じん" but, this is a different kanji. There's a horizontal line at the top. 入
