I saw a Let's Play of State of Decay. The acting and artstyle almost made me think it was a comedy game. I don't really have anything against it, but the dialogue sucks from what I've seen. I watched the start of the game, and from what I could take in, it seemed like the main characters went camping and somewhere entirely missed the zombie apocalypse, which is strangely convenient and slightly stereotypical. There wasn't too much gameplay in the first episode but what I saw was enough for me to not want to watch the second.
The Last of Us is beautiful. It completely amazes me, the graphics, combat, and stealth are all really well done. Some parts feel repetitive and there are some parts that are definitely frustrating and hard to play correctly on the first try, but the character development is what for me really makes the game. The only character I couldn't really get myself to like was Tess. Tess and Joel were this cold, hard-as-nails smuggling team but it always seems like Tess is doing all the bribing and shooting in cutscenes. Her storyline seemed cheesy, and I don't know enough about her backstory to really relate. |

I remember seeing what was either a development video or a trailer rundown for State of Decay, where it seemed very serious. It's kind of a shame, I've never liked zombie comedy games. For me it's kinda like watching a disney sitcom, where I'm always thinking about the characters, 'Well, Why didn't they do this? Then they wouldn't be in this terrible situation. Wait, why did they do that when any logical person would do this? Don't they realise that they just majorly escalated the entire thing?' You know what I'm talking about? Maybe not all people my age think about those shows like I do, but that's the same thing I think about for games like Dead Rising. |

State of decay is what dead island and dead rising should have been. Its all about the scavenging sneaking survival base building and keeping moral up. The game is extremly serious at all times and you dont "fun" while playing it. Anyways when it comes to my personal tastes im going with state of decay over the last of us. Survival beats third person shooter everytime in my book. The people above me seem unable to properly researh a game before making judgements on it. |

State of Decay if you like survival, base-building, and open-world.
The Last of Us if you like story, graphics, and gameplay.
