I wrote this to convince more people to verify their mail and create a more secure pass
Hacking/Cracking is not cool, and in some cases against the law.
There are two types, brute force and dictionary attacks.
BRUTE-FORCE
Brute-Force crackers always guess your pas no matter what, but this could take from a week to a year.
It guesses basically every combination within 20 characters, it takes a lot of power and a lot of time because there is most likely billions of combinations. So usually people that want into a account only run this application for a few days or weeks because you have to turn off your computer some time right?
But on the other hand, there is some programs that are meant to continue whenever you turn your computer back on so be cautious. the brute-force cracker starts with the most obvious combinations so don't make your pas extremely hard to guess.
DICTIONARY
This cracker only goes up to 14 characters for the most part, dictionary pas-crackers are most common because they are easiest to get a hold of and it's a lot faster.
These programs simply guess pretty much every word in the Dictionary, and that's it.
Some of them replace o's with 0's for example, also some of them guess numbers at the end.
There are state and Federal laws that apply to hacking. The prevalent Federal law is 18 U.S.C. 1030. Fraud and Related Activity in Connection with Computers. It's way too long to post here, but you most likely find it on the Department of Justice website.
I don't know much about how it's against the law, but i do know that in some cases users that pay on their account can sue the hacker and the hacker could possibly go to jail for a certain amount of time.
Good luck fellow robloxians!

I'm sorry, but this just isn't a viable means of getting into a person's account. After a certain amount of failed attempts, ROBLOX forces you to enter a CAPTCHA each time until you can login, so therefore both automatic and manual methods just do not cut it, mainly the automatic methods.
- Automatic methods do not cut it, simply because it's near impossible for them to 'guess' a CAPTCHA. They normally have around a one-hundred-percent fail rate.
- Manual methods do not cut it either, this is because it would become irksome after the thirtieth attempt.

Desperian,
Thruston is part right, but so are you. The CAPTCHA only appears after a certain amount of tries, so for the few 6 attempts the 'hacker' gets, he/she may auto guess/ brute guess it right. Its pure luck basically.
Cheers,

Did you know guys that you can make a program which gets the captcha image and converts it to bitmap and then it can read from it pretty nicely? |

Thurston, copying places is illegal too, you forgot that. ROBLOX Auto- copy rights them unless they are uncopy locked. That's why Jared Valdez is in Judy right now. |

(lol sorry for a real late reply)
but uh, you're wrong..If you know ANYTHING about computers, you would know that some bruteforcers come with a proxy changer, so when a CAPTCHA is detected, It changes your proxy.. |

@Pudin
Copying places in ROBLOX is not illegal. |

@Pudin

pudinrox, man, you remember Jared Valdez too. The first time I took him off Roblox he bounced back. He had stolen at least 20 places and claimed creatorship, and it was SUCH a pain. I'd rather not discuss it but the matter is prominent. I'd like to say a few things.
1. There are many ways to gain access to a user's information that don't apply to guessing, and some of it can be done on very weak sites via the URL-box, so there's no real way to completely stop it.
2. to iiCrazy87, I'd not reccomend even worrying about your 08' acct, since you've obviously had some time to progress a new one.
3. People still do care and the only way to stop it is preemptively. As we hold to be true, the ROBLOX Game Masters' few active members work in-game and online to strike anyone who's threatening hacking, bullying, being overly offensive, or manipulating game servers. If someone's threatening to hack someone, just report them, because if it's a member of RGM, we won't give but one warning to the offensive rule-breaker themselves, and then the last straw hits and it's all over. As for us, each of us in the upper ranks does have a bugged 55 digit encrypted pas that nobody can access due to it's cyber incription. |

Also, to palkiajack, Jared Valdez's associated IP says that he's in on Copyright Infringement through Roblox so I'd say that you're wrong on that. |

@Never, you have a point but I would love to be able to use it again. Plus it brings back memories. So if you can or know anyone that can please notify me. And I promise not to report because I kinda asked for it..... |

some people use brute force for good and some people use brute force for bad. my old account simon461230378 was hacked |
|

Wow people still remember the days of jared... Although he is the most famous roblox hacker ever... Everyone knows him. I met him in game once before I knew he stole people's places. He has a YouTube account too. None of his vids make sense doe. |
|
|

Jared is not the most famous hacker ever. There's c00lkid, pieperson50, etc. |
|
|

I meant exploiter. Look him up in the roblox wiki. |
