We all know that we can change brick's material (Plastic, Grass, Wood etc...). All materials should have their own weight (ex: wood is heavier than plastic). Roblox already made the weight physics but only for water (as terrain). So every no-anchored part would drown into the water (wood or plastic would float). BUT! The problem is that when you create any type of non-anchored brick (for example a cube), than you try to push it with your character, every material would feel the same. I made a car once and my character still could push it easily! Every material should have a different weight! So I think roblox should update this. Please support the cause and leave a feedback! Thank you :)

What? They already made it happen with water...

Scriptable. Check out BodyVelocity.

No need to script... Why to complicate and put the lag into a place? If they already made it for water they can make it for this too...

Bro do you even script Body* objects tell the physics engine what to do. They aren't any more laggy than the part would be without them.

Some people don't want weighted materials. Make it optional. And it's scriptable.

You can make it you know.

Guys do you even read well? THEY ALREADY MADE IT, ONLY FOR WATER... So I mean, what's the reason to keep "materials" if they weight all the same and have same physics.

Because that's the way it's been for years and changing it would affect the behavior of physics on millions of games?

Game owners will update and fix how they always did when Roblox was updated...
Sharksie
#102602422Monday, June 24, 2013 5:22 PM GMT

No they won't because many of the game owners have quit. Put it into perspective: Roblox could choose to inconvenience you OR Roblox could choose to inconvenience millions of people The choice seems pretty obvious to me. Just script it if you want it.

You guys don't understand. It wont change anything. Wont affect any of games, and if the owners have quit it's not our problem. There are games where you need to push stuff around like stone blocks or wood bricks?

Don't pretend it won't change anything. If that were true you wouldn't be working so hard to get this change. Just put a BodyVelocity into your brick. It doesn't even require scripting.

You cant say that, alot of good scripters and builders would agree with me... Lots of them want better physics. BodyVelocity wont give so accurate weight on different materials, there are alot of them.

It's as accurate as you make it. The great part about the way it is now is you can make it however accurate you want.

ArceusInator, you're right. BUT what if this feature was made optional? Also, yes, BodyVelocity.

Ok BodyVelocity is an option. But why you just don't try to support this... Give this idea a chance to be seen by roblox engineers and designers, and let's see what happens... Maybe you are scared that this idea would be good an they will make it true or what?

"ArceusInator, you're right. BUT what if this feature was made optional?" It already is optional. You have the option to turn it on, on whichever parts you want, to whatever degree you want, in whatever direction you want, with BodyVelocity. "But why you just don't try to support this" I've already told you why I don't support this. Because it would mess with the physics of millions of games, possibly breaking the games.

Think a second, I know you're smart. It won't brake any of games. Maybe instead of pushing a car you could not push it anymore if you make it out of metal or stone material....

Yeah, that would be cool, you could totally make that with BodyVelocity. What I'm looking for in your argument is a reason for why this should be a site-wide change. So far all you've given me are example of what can already be made with BodyVelocities.

@Arc: Why are you not thinking? Most of ROBLOX does not know how to use B.V's. Also guys, see this idea please, http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=100669483

BodyVelocity, spend loads of time trying to find accurate physics for each brick. What happens when you have thousands of objects in your game you think should have physics? Spend days, weeks, months, adding physics? Waste of time. ROBLOX implements a weight feature, setting accurate physics for each type of object. BodyVelocity could still be used to alter physics in anti-grav games.
