Hello there, i'm going to apologize in advance for such a long post. I would appreciate if you read it and gave feedback, whether positive or negative. Ill start by explaining a little. A while back I got the idea to use skyboxes to make a claymation movie of sorts, to get a more realistic sky in my game. Well, this didn't work out. The first reason it doesn't work is because you have to make thousands of high detailed skyboxes, and they all end up with those annoying lines anyways. The second major problem is that when you set skyboxes to appear twice or so a second they lag as they load. And this is because it takes a moment for roblox to update the skybox and such. So my idea for roblox is for them to update the sky, and here are some of those ideas: The first is a cloud layer. This isn't weather i'm talking about, its an actual property of the sky that I would like to see. The idea is that you could set the "cloud count" to zero and get a perfectly clear blue sky. As you increase this "cloud count" value closer to its max, the sky fills with more and more clouds. Eventually you reach some maximum value, where the entire sky is covered in clouds. They also cover up stars and the sun/moon. This isn't however dynamic clouds, because they don't move. They would be static. The reasoning for this instead of simply adding clouds in the sky is so that you can have an actual perfectly blue sky, and cloudy sky painted right into the engine. The second is a better sunset and sunrise. Right now I believe that the sunset and sunrise look pretty bad, and are a little bit neglected. So my idea is to simply update this cycle in the sky to look more beautiful, and allow builders to manipulate these properties. Such properties could be colors as the sun goes down/up. The third is phases of the moon. This is something that I would really love to see in roblox, because its a simple idea that could have a beautiful outcome. The idea is simply to have a phase of the moon correspond to a value in Lighting. As this value changes the phase of the moon changes correspondingly. It would also be awesome if we could pull the moon over the sun, to create eclipses. A cool little idea suggested to me in the past is allowing builders to add celestial bodies such as a second moon. The fourth idea is stars that turn in the night sky, simulating the planet turning on its axis. This is a very simple thing, and there could be an option in lighting to turn it off and on. I believe builders could take this to their advantage and create beautiful night scenes. But remember that stars only turn as time passes in lighting. That way it is not mandatory. My fifth and final idea addresses the sky in another kind of way. Allowing us to have some kind of 'dust' particle in lighting. As the value of this dust particle increases, light will become more obscure. This is so that a street light can be seen when its foggy, as in, you can see the light being caste down from the street light above.

For a future date, the staff said they are planning on making dynamic clouds, reacting to dynamic lighting of course. Now for the dust effect, they also said that would be an issue to address to work properly when someone else suggested that idea. Now for everything else, that is quite an outstanding idea. I very well support this.

@Deven, did you read the entire post? Most of this stuff can't be scripted. And for the multiple skyboxes, that would cause lag, WHICH HE CLEARLY STATED. So stop being lazy and read it fully.

I think a new default sky for ROBLOX would be a neat thing. After all, The sun and moon are over-sized. Support ~11076

Lately, ROBLOX is implementing many features to make levels look better. Most are small though and are easily done. Like the recent outlines. Something like this though, is a great way to improve the looks of places. In other words, Support.
