The song is about a guy who is down on his luck and hopes and dreams of getting his life together, but has a lot of baggage. He's not schizophrenic or any of these labels that we like to give people. He's a guy and he's been through a lot and he has a lot of conflicted thoughts because he's been through a lot, but still dreams of seeing better days even though society may be against him. The beauty of the song is that we can all relate.
