They were tested a while back, and it was fun. RP games could hugely benefit from this.

Half support. It would be useful, but servers would greatly lag from players with a bad connection. I'm still a patched up, crazy, matryoshka!

100 Player servers coukd potentially crash a server from internal issues. Also its a developers nightmare for update because so many players are on one server if a indie-developer (new game maker) wanted to shutdown a couple servers you are potentially losing dozens of players. In short #Unsupported

100 player servers would be nice for large scale gameplay like forts, or games where players have to interact a lot. however even with decent computers, 100 players per server would be a huge lag-hub. [always bring a banana to a party]
