Mayans believed we are now in the fifth age of humans. This time, the world (according to the legend) will be destroyed by earthquakes on 22 december 2012. I think this is a load of rubbish because during one of apocalypses which ended one of the great ages of humans the wind blew the sun out so there was a complete darkness. Now we know Sun is hundreds of millions kilometres away from Earth so it was impossible for wind from Earth to blow out the entire Sun which is so big it's many times bigger than the Earth. So if world will really end on 22 december 2012 (which it will almost certainly not) there's no point in buying christmas presents.

Earthquakes? That's only the shifting of the tectonic plates, and they wouldn't all move and once and destroy the world. Nope. Definitely won't happen. So, how does the Mayan calender work to claim the apocalypse?

its fake the mayans might have even thought well our species wont live that long lets just stop adding years and leave it as it is 2012 we will all be dead anyways and btw they were right they did die before 2012 so it might just be about mayan communities not the world who knows what went on in their head while they made the calendar

Here's the truth people. The Mayans predicted that the apocalypse will be in 2012! But it was really the predicted apocalypse for their own people. The problem is that they were wiped out way before during the 16th or 17th century. The apocalypse will not come on 2012.
