I have been thinking about a game idea and wanted to run it past you guys. The game (no name for it yet) would be centered around working on the LHC.
Ideally, there would be 2 versions of the game, a RP version and a Battle version. In the battle version, there would be Staff, who are regular people trying to keep the LHC running so that it can find the Godmode Particle, possibly carrying low powered guns to keep themselves alive. There would be the Security Team, who couldn't service or manage the LHC but had larger weapons and more health, ideal for tracking down the last class, Saboteurs. Saboteurs run around the facility, armed with decent weaponry, the ability to change their uniform into that of a staff member, and the ability to perfectly disguise themselves as anyone they killed, even appearing in the custom chat GUI as that person. Most important though, are the bombs. They can put bombs on just about everything, creating dynamic gameplay. For example, destroying a coolant pipe would not only make the LHC start to overheat, but it would also provide a hazard to prevent Staff members from easily getting to other damaged areas. You could blow a hole in the wall to make a small cave-in, making people find another way around. You could bomb the electric lines, shutting down power and not only damaging the LHC, but also plunging those who haven't selected NVGs as a perk into darkness, or you could even bomb the generator itself and possibly trigger a meltdown, causing combinations of all of the above. With so many opportunities, gameplay would be dynamic and the replay value would be high. However, Staff and Security could catch the Saboteur during the 20 seconds it takes to set the bomb, and either kill the the Saboteur to get the shutoff code or disarm it themselves by doing a small logic puzzle during the 60 second countdown. Staff could analyze data (do a small obby "in their head") to speed up the process of finding the Godmode Particle, and use their hammers (infused with duck tape so they will fix everything) to repair things that have broken. The Saboteurs win when the LHC finally dies, but not before imploding in a spectacular meltdown, destroying everything in the area. The good guys win when the Godmode Particle is found.
The other server would be an RP server, where weapons didn't do damage and the LHC could not explode.
Ideally, the game would have a "Trouble in Roblox Town" kind of feel to it, with nobody knowing who to trust. A custom chat GUI would prevent dead players from talking about who killed them except with other dead players. All in all, this would likely take a while to make, but I think the result would be fun to play. This brings me to the question of the hour... Would you play it?
