I want to make a generation 1 Pokemon trading card game on ROBLOX, but I don't want to get 10% of the game done and see half of the images content deleted and have to scrap it all demotivated, so I'm asking beforehand; can I do it or not? If not, can I make my own rip off of Pokemon instead or just name it 'Rokemon'and discolor the cards slightly? If both of these are a no-no then I'll take it from a different angle and make a word game or something. I want to make a card game because it looks very challenging and rewarding to make experience wise with the whole double-side-gui thing, advanced data persistence and the difficulty in testing it.

It's allowed. Someone made a Yu-Gi-Oh game which is similar and didn't have any problems. "Please do NOT land flying ice cream trucks on the bathers!"

Progress so far. Stage one: [Starting the project] I decided at first to start off with the core GUIs of the game with the "Deck" button. I then decided to develop the Data persistence and storage system in a way that a slot inventory system could function with no problems. Stage two: [Making the card design] I spent a few days deciding on the design of the Pokemon cards, uploading decals and then re-making them due to decal deletion. The cards turned out pretty well. I also stored in lots of values like Boolean values for special attacks with Effect string values inside them as well as standard Int/NumberValues for the damage. I imagine this will make the battle system slightly easier to make in the future. Stage three [Adding a card pack system that flashes card on screen and plays "WHO'S THAT POKEMON?" sound effect if the card is a Pokemon card. For balancing reasons, you get two energy cards, two pokemon cards and two support cards per 6 card pack. There's a common and uncommon table for both 'support' cards and 'Pokemon cards'. The uncommon table for Pokemon cards includes; Pikachu, Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Abra and Machoke. Oddly enough Starmie is in the common table. Stage four [Making the "All Cards" tab] Using my slot inventory system, it displays your cards in the order you bought them and not in alphabetical order. (I MAY add the ability to move cards around in the future if the game ever has a V.1) Anyway, your cards are displayed and you can click and drag the slightly annoying to use Pokeball shaped dragger, which will show your cards as you drag is and is more fun than arrows or pages. This is all I have done so far. Also, despite having all the data persistence done, I have actually disabled card saving, so when you buy cards, the game notices next time you join that you have less than 2,500 cash and 0 cards, so it sets your cards back to 2,500 cash meaning that in the future, if you somehow delete all your cards and have less than 2,500 cash, the game won't break. I will enable the data persistence once the game is completed. The next several stages will be making the challenge system. Please note that it is very likely that this series of challenges may prove too difficult taking into account that data persistence and two player games cannot easily be tested by one person, let alone a complex card game. I WILL try my best, but don't hold your expectations too high. If the games V1 is ever complete, I will add more Pokemon, don't worry. As for now there's at least two Pokemon of every type from Gen 1. http://www.roblox.com/Empty-place?id=131044981
