it is hard for new people to learn the system. Since they don't know/don't want to, they just use free models. It really bugs me that it is hard for new users to learn. obviously for us it seems easy since we have had the discipline to learn it. But for others they just kind of try to by-pass it and work without it and the result is bad. If I were a dev and I had a powerful lua engine capable of letting people reate whatever they want I would push people to try and learn it and give them a reward for doing so.

Nope. Instead we get punished and/or ignored.

What's hard about it you could change to make it not hard? It pretty much couldn't get any easier, compared to other languages.

Where has creativity gone. I'm not mad at devs I'm just a little confused.

Yeah really, RBX_Lua is an immensly simple language, if they don't understand it, then they probably won't even understand HTML.

I know that it's about as easy as possible anaminus. I would'nt want it simpler. I would just want to put it out there with a little more emphasis. After all nobody has to learn scripting, but most don't even know it exists. Roblox's success should be based on hard work. In the real world of capitalism the ones that do best are the ones that work hardest and come up with the best ideas. Now I'm sure Roblox's capitalism would work in a similar fasion if they were to make this technology more available and more showcased. In life those people are household names, and they are the ones who enjoy their spoils. It feels like roblox is ashamed of it's core. I almost never hear scripts mentioned in RT or in the news or in any roblox Youtube commercial clip.

Wouldn't it be nice if the scripters were glorified, but instead they're viewed as the group of reclusive nerds who stay in thier own lil' forum all day, and eat anyone who tries to enter their domain.

I totally understand that. Some scripters are really glorified like xleg0x and pyro and S.M.L. but it's not like they are the only ones.

Seems like the only way for scripters to become glorified is for them to either become a mod, or for them to make a popular place.

1. They get little kids to play and make money off of. 2. What if free models weren't here? It would be cool but I like using free models for finding stuff out. Maybe they should take out free models from the insert ingame but keep all models and my models...Then people would maybe make their own stuff!

HTML is actually kind of simpler than LUA.

Html is also useful only for formatting webpages.

It still plays a big role in ROBLOX, also, don't forget CSS.

CSS is easier than HTML.

how about make some type of badge if you make a script that doesnt have errors and take out free models? people who like getting badges would work towards getting that badge which would also push other children... now, i know that badges are practicly ignored now but i would rather have a Lua badge then a sign that says "Ima Scripter!" and the badge wouldnt be hard to make, just have a script in your place that has no errors in it...

@thekey Noobs would just get free model scripts >.> Seriously though, Ana, Xleg, MDB, beg the devs to put more emphasis on scripting rather than hats and gear.

@Anaminus Remember web semantics. CSS is used for 99% of formatting, not HTML.

Well the problem is that no one knows who we are. I mean if I asked a new kid who Anaminus, Person299, and Havemeat who they were he would know. But I and many others go under the radar. The scriptors should have a celebration so we can all talk about Lua and things like that.

Off-Topic - What if I were to say that the tabletop was more important than the legs of the table. It would make no sense, but I could argue that you only put stuff on the tabletop, not the legs. It's basically the same deal with HTML and CSS. Whether they are in different files, or the CSS is inline with the HTML (BAD FORM!) they both require each other. On-Topic - I think if we had some kind of wiki-thingy and the devs added awesome features (or seemingly awesome features) to RBXLua, we'd get some more scripters. Although I also think that if we helped out in scripting help (Teaching them, not just giving them scripts) we'd get some more scripters too. @magi/\/eer
