I am running a gtx 770 and a 120hz monitor so I can display 120 fps but roblox isnt allowing it. Any way to get 120 fps?

I don't feel that this is much of a problem. A lesson for you (And future video hobbyists!): Anything beyond 30FPS is unnecessary unless you're recording. The human eye can only track fluid motion up to that speed. The higher a framerate is, the more powerful your graphics driver is when it comes to getting hit with heavy pixelations and video recording. So, unless you're actually planning on doing a lot of recording, I don't think this is that big of a deal. But, if you still want an answer... Your most immediate method is to lower the graphics when playing a game on ROBLOX. But considering how things work with the script and runtime, ROBLOX might have a regulator set up to help slower and older computers run the game effectively. I'm not quite sure, honestly. Not really a graphical guru.

FPS (Frames Per Second) is the term used to describe how fluid the movement is on your screen at any point in time. It is not a graphical function that determines what you can and can not do. If OP's original post states that he can reach up to 120 FPS on other games but only 60 on this one, he does not have to worry. Like I theorized: ROBLOX probably has a regulator for your video cards so they don't work any harder than they have to. I'm sure it's put in place to help older computers run the game.

i am not an idiot. i built my won computer. since he has a 120hz monitor (which is refresh rate) you need to get 120fps in a game to get 3d, which his gpu can do much more than that on roblox. 120fps is in game, 120hz is on the monitor, but you need both to do 3d.

I never insinuated that you're an 'idiot' in any way. I don't understand how that's being brought up here. Now, I get what you're saying about how the frame rate and the refresh rate need to be in sync (That's really common sense for anything technical), but OP didn't say anything about things being in 3D. He just wanted to know how to up the framerate on ROBLOX. I don't feel as if you've given a theory beyond 'He wants to do 3D.' That really isn't helping anyone here. I'm not keen on arguing with someone on a Help thread (Let alone argue with someone on the ROBLOX forum), but neither of us are really attributing to helping his problem. All I can really say is what I've said twice before -- That there could be a system in place that limits processing power to protect older computers and help them run the game better.

I haven't been on since the run/save loop, but I got a 450 watt power supply and a 400 watt graphics card. I don't know if I will get 60fps or 120fps with that. I don't know what you have, also.

The debugger thing only shows up to 60 FPS. If that's the limit, I'm not entirely certain. and no, there isn't a way to get it higher.

Disable your V-sync if you have a control panel for your GPU (or CPU). I have 120 FPS up with V-sync disabled.

Disable vsync on roblox studio

Even if you disable v-sync it is still limited to 60 fps. And I darn well know that the human can can see WAY over 30 fps experiencing 120hz my self. I have no intentions with nvidia 3d vision also. Should I edit the .ini file in someway?

@Talfreo, I didn't say I couldn't hit 120, I'm saying that even if I turn v-sync off I'm limited to 60. And I gtx 770 could easily breeze through roblox, Clearly your knowledge of hardware is limited.

It is possible for the human eye to distinguish frames per second higher than 30, even I find it uncomfortable to watch/play videos/games on 30-40 FPS or below.

First off Juice, it could have been much better for you to just disregard what I had to say if you thought I was wrong. Instead, you must preferred to attack my knowledge of hardware (Which is a bit backwards, considering you're asking how to up the framerate on ROBLOX :/). Secondly, you said nothing about disabling your V-Sync in your original post, nor did you mention anything about previous efforts to subsidize your problem in the first place. You were being highly ambiguous, and that's your own problem. If you don't like what I have to say, then disregard it. Don't outright try to berate me and my 'knowledge of computer hardware.' If you're going to look for help, I would advise making a post regarding everything you've done and what hasn't worked. Otherwise, you're just going to get vague information or tips you've already tried to do. And to those who say that the eye can catch up to 60. You're right, but notice the key word 'fluid.' Like Vapor said, when you reach rates near 60 (And even up to 120), you begin to see motion blur and things grow to be indistinguishable. Besides: What the human eye can see is not measured in FPS (As again, it is a technical term used to describe how many images are displayed in a second), and those who try to measure it that way are dead wrong.

Jeez Tal you must be a professional or something, in fact I have 120 FPS when my V-sync is disabled, witch I don't know why you guys still have problems. There's almost no difference when you're running a game above 60 FPS, it just looks the same thing (to me).

@Talfreo Well if it IS in FPS, then it wouldn't be 60 FPS as well.

Frames are Dramatical counts of Image bits put together for frames to make a movement, NOTHING to do with 3D object, 3D object depend on the Slope System to manage the size and counterpoint of the X Y and Z coordinates.

OK: TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT DO NOT UNDERSTAND 3D ON A COMPUTER: To get 3d image (not render, the kind that pops out at you) you need to have 120 fps or better. For 3D on computer, you have a special pair of glasses that open and close 120 times per second for each eye, and only one eye is open at the same time. The monitor syncs with the glasses, and when the right eye is open it displays the image for the right eye, and vice versa. So that gives the 3d effect. Just google NVidia 3d vision and you can learn more.

Okay, Doolster. We know you're not dumb; you know a good amount regarding graphics and how they work. Now are you going to answer OP's problem or not? If not, bring your '3D discussion' somewhere else; because it's drawing attention from the actual question at hand. Everything you've said was information about how stereoscopic and anaglyphic 3D effects work, but I seriously doubt those lessons helped OP fix his problem regarding the FPS.

#118418853Friday, November 22, 2013 3:14 AM GMT

Anyhow, I believe my theory holds water here. I was digging around to help find your answer, Juice. Turns out, a lot of older games (And even modern games) tie in the FPS with the physics and interactions with the game. To quote an external source: "Older games used to do this. Heck Painkiller is a prime example. Your speed and jumping are tied to the FPS... Go above 120 it gets wacky with the gravity seeming to scale with it so you rocket jump less... go below 60fps and it gets boingy." Like I said before: The reason ROBLOX is locked at 60 FPS despite your sync settings is probably because of how the coding works in the game (This is also a lock implemented in development from way back when). If this is the case, then I'm sorry to say but you really can't do anything about it except set your monitor to refresh at 60hz when you play the game. A good reason why this could be the case is because locking at 60fps makes programming easier in general for developers. Does this suck? Yes. But you can't do anything about it, except appeal to ROBLOX staff and devs and push for 120hz compatibility.

@Talfreo Apparently the first 5 seconds I get 60 FPS and THEN it goes up to 120. There's not much difference when you're running a game above 60+ FPS, but looks more smoother.
