Alright so I'm pretty good at Roblox lua but its not really good for anything but Roblox and I'm getting pretty bored of it. Any Suggestions on what programming language I should learn next and also why I should learn it?

If you want to get a job right out of the gate, try to learn Java. People who hire programmers tend to love things done fast, and Java allows a programmer(or team of programmers) to create something a considerable amount faster than a language such as C++, but I wouldn't expect too much of your final product. Projects managed by people that have the mindset that causes them to choose Java because of how fast a programmer can create something with it usually fail. If you're looking for a language that will help you down the road, try C++. Projects may not be able to be created as fast as with a language like Java, but the final result will probably be much better than if it was created with Java(this is not because Java is definitively worse than C++ -- it's just the mindset of the managers that cause projects to go south.) If you're looking for languages that you can use right now(and languages that are possibly not very hard to learn), try JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and/or Python.

Ew, C#. When I heard that my college wanted to teach me C# instead of C++, I started to wonder if it was really worth the time and money(and not to mention the patience to deal with them) just to go to a piece of paper that says I can program.

yep UR MOM++ is best programming languages of all time. i also gotta say this. if you're looking for a new programming language to learn i suggest that you master this one first (LUA), i bet you think you know everything but the fact is you know nothing about it. you probably only know little that enables you to make basic games which you think that it's all there is in LUA. but it isn't, make wonders with lua and innovative games. because if you won't, i feel that you'll like the other people that'll fail in the end of this road who'd achieve nothing.

Well it all depends mostly on what you are interested in, web design? Learn Javascript, CSS, html, and php if you are really deep in that stuff recomended for web design: php, html, javascript. CSS is only for styling but those I think are the most important. Game design? Learn C++, C#, C, Java, Python, Lua(Not rblx Lua, there is another kind.), Haskle. This is not all of them and I think I spelt one of them wrong but there you go, oh and also Javascript. Yes yes, you can make games with Javascript, it has been done many times before. Recommended game peogramming langs: Java, Javascript, C++. Both Java and Javascript can embed into web pages, C++ you cannot but it is really well taken care of, if you just want to get into making games. Python or Lua, other wise thoughs. These are just my suggestions, I hope you put them in consideration. ~Twister~

Please learn how to actually use the language before you put it down. Thanks.

Java is vastly used and isn't too hard to learn so that would be a great place to start.

@Abs: I'm not arguing that C# isn't hard to learn, but its widespread use is next to nothing compared to a language such as Java or C++. I was assuming that the OP would rather learn something in which he/she would benefit the most from.
