Hey guys! I've started an ambitious project to create a windows 2000 replica in roblox. Right now I'm working on just the absolute basics, but I think I've created enough to make a little content preview for you guys. Things done as of this post: - Window Rendering - Draggable Windows - Close-able Windows - Minimizable Windows ( Click their taskbar button. ) - Taskbar buttons - Start button - Very early stages of a start menu - Active window ( unactive windows are greyed out. ) - Clock ( non-functional for now ) - Completely scale-able ui goodness Things almost done: - Desktop icons - Buttons, panels, text-boxes. Check out my rubbish here: http://web.roblox.com/Windows-2000-Simulator-place?id=26541637

I don't think it's meant to be fun, but be a tech demo. Though it's be cool to apply this to a SurfaceGui and have an actual computer. :p ~The alpaca of the acting world.

how about you learn assembly, make a basic bootloader, do program w/ C and create something useful i see no purpose on SIMULATING (not EMULATING) a computer

its cool but the people here are right maybe instead of simulating windows 2000, make a game out of it or maybe make a GUI library with GUIs that look nice? maybe you could have Windows 2000 as one of the themes

Yo, we heard you liked computers, so we put a computer in your computer so you can play your computer while you're playing your computer!

Meh.. Not very convincing for a windows computer. But, good job anyways.

@apdap: Or you could let him do what he wants. The biggest "thing" about programming is making things that you enjoy. If he wants to a Win2000 Simulator, let him.

Now tell me, will the CPU be capable of running an executable file created by the user?

yea, probably I should shut up, because when I started scripting I got one of these operating systems and made a arcade with it :|

DUN BE MEAN AGAINST POPS! Well, yea... his simulator is niec, and the idea with SurfaceGui mentioned above is kol - My suggestion is allowing players to make their own programs and browse the web in de simulator. Yet, it'sh prahfekt looking at design, and u evil guys shud not bully hero pops. Ok, found my insuline pump, I have to go. - As

@Everyone saying stop development you nooby scrub If I want to remake windows 2000 then I can. It's not exactly like making anything on roblox has a worthwhile reward, unless you can rake in 100k. I'm doing this because it is fun to try and replicate windows on the roblox platform. @All the scrubs saying this isn't an accurate simulation Actually yes, it is. Only things missing for what is right now featured are proper button depressions. Window rendering is 100% accurate, and the taskbar is yet again only missing button depressions. If you'd love to get cynical about it, look at the actual definition of simulation: "the act of imitating the behavior of some situation or some process by means of something suitably analogous (especially for the purpose of study or personnel training)" This is not intended to run actual windows code, but to merely capture the exact 'feel' of windows 2000. Think of it this way; does a bus simulator allow you to kick the chassis of the bus and visually see the dents? Does it allow you to crash into buildings and watch the resulting newscast? No; a bus simulator simulates the driving and operation of a bus and only that. As such, a windows simulator would only need to have the 'feel' of a windows distribution. TL;DR Simulator ~= Emulator you silly scrubs.

^ So a bus simulator needs to simulate it's insides e.g its engine, to be a bus simulator ?

From Google: "imitate the appearance or character of."

Cool! But if you reset (More Pop ups Happen) You should add something like each player gets (3 Pop ups and Fix it where it stays 3) No more
