I was thinking of a "Cut" tool which would allow you to "Cut" bricks like scissors and a paper? Examples- Cutting a brick into a certain shape. Or cutting a big square into the middle of a brick. I don't know, I was just using studio and thought that would be a pretty handy tool.
I'm sorry if this tool already exists or something like it does, I still am a newb to Studio.
Bye. :D |

I think they discussed this in a Q&A session at the virtual BLOXcon. If I remember correctly, they plan on doing this.
Regardless, I support. |

Thanks for the support! Oh and btw, this would making houses and towers a LOT more easier!
(You can cut a space for each window!) |

Now, with this tool, would there also be a tool that does the opposite? (Builds onto bricks, rather than cuts off of them?) |

That's a good Idea! I should've added that to the post.
Yeah, i guess it SHOULD come with that. |

Ozzypig has a really amazing brick cutter plugin with allows you to cut a brick in half and also drag and area and make the cut a certain size. It's really awesome and if you want this right away you should look into getting that.
I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up. |
|

Yeah, that's true. @above me. |

What's your point?
There's no plugin that does what is being said here. |

I don't know if Ozzypig has uploaded them to ROBLOX.com yet but it's still on his website which I don't have the link to but I'm just saying.

I mean:
What does his plugin have to do with this idea? |
|
|
@Chaos (replying for the other guy)
Ozzypig created numerous plugins, including a brick-cutting tool. While I generally prefer ROBLOX-made stuff to Plugins (Plugins make it hard to undo/redo stuff, since Studio doesn't account for any changes made with them unless you make a change with a ROBLOX-made tool after), I've found his stuff to be fairly useful in building. |

Re-read the post and I'm proving my idiocy here. Disregard my reply and go back to your daily lives. |

So basically a really bad mesh maker..? |

"So basically a really bad mesh maker..?"
What?
Where in this post did you even get that idea from?
No.
You cut parts off of bricks, and the brick remains as one, but with some of it missing. So let's say you wanted a brick with a corner cut off, you could do that. |
|
|
So it makes a mesh of a brick with no corner? |
|
ExtulsJoin Date: 2009-01-02 Post Count: 5557 |
No.
No mesh.
The actual brick would have a piece of the corner gone. |
|
|
So it splits a brick into smaller bricks?
Remember: this is roblox. It can't even handle cylinders. |
|
ExtulsJoin Date: 2009-01-02 Post Count: 5557 |
No. It doesn't split the brick into more than one brick.
It remains as one brick, but with some parts of the brick missing based off of what you cut.
ROBLOX can handle cylinders though. It was pretty well proven a few years back when they did the test with prism parts and pyramid parts. Don't know what ever happened to those though. |
|
|
Well, true... There were those...
But then again, this idea is quite a bit more complex.myou have a theoretically infinite number if possible shape changes, and the question of how they would work with resizing. |
|
ExtulsJoin Date: 2009-01-02 Post Count: 5557 |
They would work with resizing just by scaling the same way pyramid bricks and prism bricks did.
Well, either way, either at BLOXcon or the BLOXcast this was mentioned, and ROBLOX said they like the idea, and that they'd like to get it out in the future. |
