It is possible to anchor parts, which cancel them from roblox's physics, then make your own physics at 30fps, or use renderstepped. This was done by some one(I forget his name) and made air dynamic physics. Also, my game(On my main, jetta765214) includes some particles, such as sparks and blood. It's not very fancy, just an anchored part with a billboard gui on it, then the part has some basic physics on it. Alt. of Jetta765214

@Jetta: Other unanchored parts still check those anchored parts for collisions -- not as efficient as having ROBLOX creating a particle system that isn't checked by any parts.

Any code written in lua would be less efficient then code written in C(Or what ever roblox uses) by roblox. So unless you were hoping to be able to write your own physics in C(Which would probably provide a ton of exploits, since server side and client side must have these physics), you can't make physics as efficient as roblox's. pls don't kill me, but couldnt you go diving around in a game/studio with a debugger/value searcher? I know back in 011 skiddies would use CE to browse the code of scripts and things and change it, but apparently you can still see the code of items and things I saw some of the filter words, and its pretty crazy what you can find encoded down in there.
