(LONG POST) At first I was very confident that the Xbox One would deliver, as I was sure that the only cause of struggle was the confusing ESRAM/GPU combination. But as I learned more about the GPUs shortfalls, it's quite clear to me that the Xbox One is going to likely stifle the technical side of things for developers, as it already has. I can recall getting into debates about this, and I was pretty adamant in saying that developers would come to grips with the systems odd configuration (compared to the PS4), but after months and months of seeing concrete proof that the Xbox One simply can't have games at the quality level of the PS4, due to hardware shortcomings, not just the confusing layout, it's pretty clear that the Xbox One might not have the best future. Sure, Microsoft can update their APIs, or developer resources, etc. They can make the most optimized version of their software libraries allotted to developers, and that's obviously not going to make the hardware any better. I'm not really concerned about having the games in the best resolution, or having them at a solid frame rate. What I'm concerned about is the overall vision of the developers; if they want have 1080p/60 fps, considered to be the gold standard...just how much content or complexity are they going to have to reduce in order to get the game running on the Xbox One? I'm really disappointed for the Xbox One, on the hardware side of things. The exclusives have been excellent for the most part, but I really didn't know the full extent of the hardware shortcomings for the platform until recently. Just shows how ignorant I was until then.

Excellent post. I completely agree with you. If the Xbox One fails completely in a year or so, Microsoft's gaming industry is doomed.

The thing that really bugs me about the xbox one is the mandatory kinect. Compared to the PS4, you're paying an extra 100 bucks for a kinect that you'll never use.

@zangoose Yeah...I have to agree with that, and after all, I consider the new Kinect to be pretty advanced. There are simply not any games that use it in an interesting and new way, compared to the old Kinect. It's like Microsoft put all these relatively advanced features in it, keeping in mind it's a commercial product, like mood detection, heart rate detection, tracking, etc, and these are all going unused.
