If higher prices are necessary for longer sounds, so be it, but two minutes is way too short for most songs to be uploaded. 6-minute audio would allow for most existing songs to be uploaded and used instead of having to be cut off or split into multiple parts. |

@sup I don't control the pricing, so that would be completely useless. What I'm suggesting is the ability for longer audio uploads. It's up to ROBLOX to figure out the price for longer audio. |

I think it's the other way around. Most songs are two minutes to three minutes.
Anyways support. |

@Got I didn't say that most songs are six minutes. I said that most songs are longer than two minutes and shorter than six. The ability to upload six-minute audio would make sure that most existing songs could be uploaded. |

This would be ridiculous... If you really need audio of such magnitude, just create a script that makes several audio tracks into a sequencer.
This would turn the site on it's head! Lag would be everywhere! D: |

Malcolt3Join Date: 2009-12-17 Post Count: 11442 |
@tin No, actually, it wouldn't. There's nothing extreme about a six-minute song. There wouldn't be lag because of this, and saying otherwise is, quite simply, wrong.
Think about it. A six-minute song is the equivalent of three two-minute songs being uploaded at the same time. As big as ROBLOX is, multiple songs are probably being uploaded at any point in time, and an increased price would probably lower this number for larger songs. In reality, compared to the load of traffic ROBLOX gets daily combined with a price point, a six-minute song upload is RIDICULOUSLY SMALL. The ROBLOX site experiences a huge amount of traffic each day and you're trying to tell me that the process of combining three pieces of two-minute audio and uploading them at the same time is going to make it crash?
Because guess what, the egg hunt made the site lag, too. Should we cancel the egg hunt because it might lag? Should we cancel all terrain updates and Studio updates because they might cause lag? Should we delete all places because they cause lag? Get rid of universes and teleports and groups because they might cause lag? No. That's bloody ridiculous. If you canceled everything that might cause lag we wouldn't have a ROBLOX. |

@CHRY The cap is two minutes. Limiting audio to 30 seconds would be pointless and idiotic. |

I support on one hand, but not on another.
Sounds are moderated by real people. Each sound has to be listened to multiple times, before the moderator makes a judgement on the given audio. By increasing the amount that can be uploaded, this has the possibility of making moderation times longer, for audio at least. It should also be noted that you shouldn't technically be uploading songs for the most part as quite a few are copyright protected. Imagine how it looks - ROBLOX storing sounds, which anyone can access and play without any costs or fees to the original creators.
More time would be nice though, especially when the Sound object is updated.

If you really need more time for an audio, make it a higher pitch (which will speed it up), and change the pitch when you insert it into your games. For an example, I know NearmissTFW does this often. |

@DataStore Yes, extra moderation time might be an issue, but I think higher audio prices for longer audio would help keep it manageable. Copyright might also be a problem, but ROBLOX has managed so far. |

Soon we want it to be 7 min, then 8, then 9, THEN 10!.......
2 Min is enough. |
|
Malcolt3Join Date: 2009-12-17 Post Count: 11442 |
@Steve Two minutes is NOT enough because two minutes is shorter than most existing songs. Six minutes is enough because it covers most existing songs. It's not a difficult concept, kiddo. |
