Look. This is a newer re-boot of an old thread that I posted when I was 9. In 2011. I am only 12. -pause- OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG kasdhgliasdugb!!! I know. Oh well... let's see how this will do!
So, imagine. You with me? Good. Imagine if, you were in your cute little robloxian car... with mirrors. -pause- Yes. Mirrors. This was a stupid idea back in the day. Anyways, you have your cute little car, driving down the road, with the mirrors (Part with translucency [or whatever it is called... THE SHINEY THING THAT DOES THE THING TO MAKE IT SHINY! There.] above level 4) So, basically, this suggestion is suggesting a new mechanic/script/whatever to have a part, above the shiny level (Whatever you call it... it has been FOREVER since I have been in studio) 4, reflect everything that is behind it. May cause some lag... but it may be worth it. Maybe. Probably. Not. I DONT KNOW!
Oh well... I hope you have the general concept/base of what I am thinking. Basically a car mirror in Roblox. Yes? No? Maybe so? I don't know. It depends on you guys... And some other things... Remember... I thought of this in 2011... THE STONE AGE!
Oh well. I will let this run free, on its own, in the wild. Good luck! |

Okay, so, first of all, I think the idea is basically unneeded because of the Reflectance option. This will also probably caused extreme lag to those of us with bad computers, which would probably mean that different graphics options will make better mirrors. |

@Cryism
So then you should be able to disable it in the settings.
@OP
I support.

That's basically what I was getting at with the "different graphic options make better mirrors" part of my post. |
|
|
From what I have *JUST* tested, the Reflectance option only reflects the skybox. I was thinking of a full mirror option... that you can... turn... on... and off... |
|
|
Scriptable.
And for you people with crappy computers, get better ones..
Besides, this will cause absolutely no lag at all.

Scriptable? Make me a car with scripted side mirrors, and a scripted rear-view mirror. Kthnxbai.
Nonetheless, support! |

I like the idea, but it would definitely cause too much lag.
Players mostly want mirrors to reflect their characters, much like bathroom mirrors, so maybe some mirrors should be programmed to only reflect your character.

This is scriptable. Simply dual render the world in the mirror to reflect real time the events in the reflection. Easy enough.

Bump.
I know this is scriptable, but I have no idea how to script, and any large map makers usually won't stumble upon a thread like this. I would think it is easier if you could just have it toggle-able. But still, some people may script this, but I highly doubt it. I have no idea on any games that would do this. Anyways, have at ye! |

I'll bump, since it isn't half that bad of an idea.
Adding more things to Studio that are good is always something I supported. |

how could it lag if it's scriptable?
for the second time in 5 years, support |

Bumping... welcome back to the community, thread! |
|

This may be an old thread, but I still support it. For those who say it's scriptable: So what? Most common folk in Roblox wouldn't be able to script it.
If Roblox didn't make things because the community itself could do it, then Roblox wouldn't be the way it is now.
For example, look at the all of the materials we have. Grass, fabric, etc. We simply could have just made decals and fitted them to bricks. So why make materials?
To simplify things.
The same could go for this. |

Support.
For those of you who say it's scriptable, it really isn't. You can create a mirrored version of everything to make it seem as if there is a mirror, but reality is, there's really blocks on the other end.
Let's say we want to put a mirror on a wall, and right behind that wall is a whole other room. How can you script that mirror now? |

I've said this suggestion time and time again. Major support.

Extra old, but bump. I have realized, because I am now older, that this idea would not really be for anything but aesthetics. If you are playing a game, which involves RP, (Roblox highschool, or whatever that game is) this could add that little bit of detail into the game. Also, land vehicle sims (Bus, car, etc.)
could gain a little bit of a realism boost, especially if that strawman sim was locked to first person somehow, and for whatever reason. Perhaps, if this gets added into the game, there could be an option to turn it down or off, similar to ArmA 3. This could make the mirror more blocky and not update as much, or just completely turn it off.
That was a lot... If this idea is in Roblox (which I'd imagine it is not) I am sorry for bumping a dead post, I have not played roblox in a LONG time (approx. 1 year.) So, that is just an update, and small little idea boost...

I am going to bump this one more time, and that is it. I will not touch this post any more. If this post gets attention, then I will let it get attention. If it doesn't get any, I will not do anything, and let it not get attention. No more of this post, it is getting annoying... probably.
