[TL;DR below]
You know what animations ruin? Custom morphs. Of course, morphs that are just regular Robloxians are.. well, relatively unaffected. They're ruined as much as our avatars are.
But do you realize how many custom morphs are ruined by these new walk animations? I just tried out some Goomba morph in another game, and while it would normally look fine and natural, the feet now float off the morph and reconnect just to walk.
I'm sorry, the legs kick way too far back. The arm swaying is annoying. I honestly can NOT see why anyone sees anything positive in any of these new animations except for maybe SOME parts of the idle animation. All these new animations involve so much torso wiggling, it especially ruins paper morphs. (If you aren't familiar with paper morphs, it's a morph with the same decal on both sides of a brick or mesh that replaces the torso of a character.)
All this torso movement makes these sorts of morphs wiggle all over the place, especially when running. They also levitate up and down when idle. The easiest thing here is to just revert the dang update, Roblox. Keep these animations optional, by reuploading them in the animations catalog. That way, game builders can simply add the animations to their own games and see them fit.
I personally think this is the best solution. We get a compromise between players who hate it, and players who like it. At least most people will be somewhat happy, rather than enraged players fighting enraged players who are riding enraged players holding enraged players who like to ride enraged players.
Now if the animations can't be reverted, here's some things that can be done to at least improve them (although reverting the update would be easier.):
Make the walking animation match our walkspeed and walk sounds, for one. The walk animation doesn't even sync properly with those. The legs kick waaay too far back, and the old arm swaying was more realistic than the current one. Even then, you shouldn't be trying to give blocky characters realistic movements. Or for people with packages, there's lots of limb detaching and floating around for them. Also, not so much torso wiggling. I explained the torso wiggling earlier.
Jumping animation was the worst, don't add it back ever again, no one jumps like that.
Climbing animation can also use a lot less torso action. Seriously, the torso wiggling is what gets on my nerves. Just remove all the wiggling in... everything. It bugs the heck out of me.
Breathing animation, as many people have said, can use a lot of slowing down. Make it subtler, too. I don't really know how that can be done, but.. eh. Just lower the speed, and have more time in between breaths. Nobody breathes that fast. I actually kind of liked the idle animations from before, as much leg twitching there was in them.
TL;DR: New animations ruin custom morphs, simply reverting the update and reuploading the animations as something that players can add to their game can make most of the community happy. New animations can be improved, but I can't really explain in a tl;dr.
Sorry for ranting! :P Also, bumps every now and then, pls. |

You can make scripts to block new animations. You could also, like in that DayZ game thing, make a HopperBin that remains selected for the entirety of the game, thus overriding the animations. |

@VFXed I guess that could be a solution, but I still don't see why such a complex setup (or simple, I actually don't know) is required to keep the old animations. Most people prefer them, anyway. |

No support because this is how admins, moderators and employees of ROBLOX are in real life. |

Scripts which replace players' animations to the old animations on spawning can be made, and there are some in free models. |
|
|
@roblox The old animations should just be default, though. Anyone who liked the new ones can re-enable them. |

I honestly think they hit perfection with these new animations and would be disappointed to see them go.
Syncing the walkspeed/sounds would be pretty nice too though. |

Support. It's always better to give options rather than to force something like this on everyone. |

@Kinnis I get this, and some people actually like the new animations. That's why I'm proposing they either get altered, or become optional. That way there's a compromise between both sides of the argument. Personally I'd get rid of the new animations, but some people actually like them. |

I liked the old idle animation better. |

Also, animations completely ruined sword fighting. When you jump, your arms go up in the air and the sword points behind you. And because of those stupid wiggly animations, when someone attacks you with a sword you're more vulnerable because of you hitbox moving into un-advantageous places. |
