7 million years ago,
Cybertron.
Sentinel Prime faced Megatron. The Decepticon rebel was about to challenge the Autobot Supreme Commander. "Megatron... This ends here..." he said.
"Sentinel Prime... I have seen the future. It will never end. This war will continue until every Autobot lies dead and Decepticons rule the universe!" responded Megatron. Sentinel was the first to strike, but Megatron pushed him aside. After the fusion cannon went off, it took seconds. Sentinel Prime had fallen. The Third Great Cybertron War had begun. Not against Unicron, the Quintessons or any threat from outside.
It was against themselves.
A few solar cycles (days) later.
Optronix looked at the chamber. The Autobot Elders had summoned him, but for what purpose? Suddenly, the ancient Alpha Trion cam through. "What is it?" asked Optronix.
"Optronix, the Matrix of Leadership has chosen you as the next Prime," the old robot replied.
"Me..."
"it is too late. The Matrix is already inside you. Arise, OPTIMUS PRIME!
After Optimus prime took command, the war turned to stalemate. Until Megatron pursuaded the neutral scientist Shockwave to join him. The Decepticons devastated much of Cybertron, leaving the Autobots trapped in a small cluster of cities. Iacon was about to fall. But the autobots took the initiative. Within weeks, the Decepticon attack became a desperate defense for the Megatron-allied half of Cybertron. but sightings of The Fallen, one of the original Thirteen created by Primus heated things up.
