So say there was a city owned by a group, and this city had a gunstore owned by some guy with no teeth with a confederate flag hanging in the back of the store. and the maker of the game was not from America so he does not know what it is portraying. (The city is not in the south)
Would you find this offensive, like if you own a gun or are a gun enthusiast, that people see you as some hick with no teeth?
Sorry if its worded wierd. I am just trying to get the maker of the game to change it and he is refusing to because he doesn't see the harm he is doing. |

the gunstore has a confederate flag hanging in it, and the guy has overalls and no teeth, and the maker of the game thinks this has no reference from him being some redneck from the south |

it's las vegas' gunstore lol |

I'm from the south as well. It's begin stereotypical and that's somewhat offensive.
Also, why is this in C&G?

I see no issue really. t's American history and shouldn't be feared. Yea it's been bad or was used for the wrong issues, but that's regardless. it's history that shouldn't be locked up and forgotten about to be repeated again.

It's called characterization. I think it's perfectly fine.
Even with your logic, he's not saying that all gun owners are from the south. From what I got out of your original post it doesn't even take place in the south so that stereotype isn't to be worried about.
What's even worse is that you're associating those traits with southerners instead of just people. |

yeah i find this incredibly offensive and the maker of the game is really ignorant
that kind of stuff you barely see anymore and definitely not in a city
i believe it should be taken out and replaced with something more accurate and less offensive |

From the South. Creator of the game needs to learn his stuff.
If the gun shop is not portrayed in the South (mainly Georgia, Mississippi, etc.) then you most likely WON'T find Confederate flags hung on the walls (matter of fact, you won't).
I'm from Texas and I've only seen Confederate flags on trucks and stuff about two or three times, but it's a lot more prevalent in the Deep South (like I said, Georgia, Mississippi, Atlanta, etc.).
And seriously, not every Southern gun owner is a backwoods redneck who's engaged with his sister. Educate yourself. |

I'm from Arkansas and I've only seen Confederate flags on trucks and stuff about two or hundreds of times, but it's a lot more prevalent in the Deep South (like I said, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas, etc.).

No one said anything about the south besides OP
This is where ignorance comes from |

Without the flag? No.
With it? Yes. |

I don't care when I see a confederate flag and a hick, because I'm not an idiot. |
