CameraMaxZoomDistance not working on fixed camera type?

I tried setting the camera's max zoom distance to 100 on a special camera that's focused on an object other than the player. However, It didn't change whatsoever. Does CameraMaxZoomDistance only work with the player's default camera?

it's the maximum distance your camera is allowed to zoom out

I know, and it won't work... I can still zoom all the way out even if I set it to 0.5.

Make sure you use the cameratype "Custom", i think that'll fix.

I tried that---it removed the ability to zoom alltogether
