Acer laptop bootup problems

My acer laptop won't start up. When I try to boot it up, It shows "Check cable connection" and "No bootable device." I contacted the customer service and I guess my hard drive is fried. I don't know why it is broken, I guess It's just old. Maybe this guy from acer doesn't know what he's talking about, because it didn't sound like it. Do any of you have any other recommendations for me? Thanks.

Try booting in safemode if problems persist mabey try factory resetting your computer (try to back up anything you want to keep on a USB drive as this whipes evrything on your computer) if it is still doing this get a new hard drive.
