I am trying to do some quest development in a Google doc with a main story arch and mini archs. For quests you get to choose your reward. |

I can release some information about the game. |

An actual plot.
A lot of RPGs that users make are all like "this is the bad guy, he wants to conquer the land for the same generic reason, you gotta kill enemies for EXP, and then you buy stuff, and go get that bad guy who has 5,000,000 health points". |
|
|
I am trying to avoid that but still keep the initial feel of what an RPG truely is. Currently, I am making the story for the game and through the NPC's you read the quest and continue a story arch. There are also mini story archs in between. |

Btw, quest #1:
You are finally of age to help us out in the harsh world. This world needs healing and you and as well as others will help make this world a better place for future generations. You will start your journey by talking to Gordon. I hear he needs help.
Objective: Speak to Gordon
Rewards: 20 exp.

RPGs are always boringly flat. Try to alternate between different elevations which make sense for the area you're building. Also, try to not ignore the barriers and scenery. It's kind of strange that every area would be bordered by cliffs that look exactly the same and are at a 90 degree angle to the ground.
Might be too much to ask, but ranged weaponry that doesn't feel weird to use, and maybe some underwater/flying enemies? Could be cool. |

RPG is actually a pretty broad term. Both Pokemon and Legend of Zelda could be classified under the RPG genre. I think you look beyond the simple, generic, classic RPG and look for something that could actually end up being pretty exciting to look forward too. |
