That way I can afford whichever new hand-held waste of time that comes out around December and I can be in the same league as all the middle class cool kids.

If you're going to get a job over the school year, make sure it's only on weekends and holidays. Having to worry about school homework/projects AND work really isn't a good combination. "People back in the day did it" But it's different times nowadays. Don't overstress yourself.

My classes are stretched pretty thing so I don't think it will be too much of a hassle. Plus, just more things to put down on the old resume.

"My classes are stretched pretty thing so I don't think it will be too much of a hassle. Plus, just more things to put down on the old resume." So you're not expecting any major projects that will take up a lot of time over the weeks after it's assigned? A job would be good, but you have to think on how it would effect other things in your life.

"I could try it out just to be safe." Also, what job would you get? Take your age, ability, ect into thought.

I could walk someone's dog... or... something like raking up leaves. Just nothing involving people skills or watching someone's kids.

@kevin Good luck lying with your age. You could pull it off with jobs that require you're social security number and whole bunch of other personal information, but for jobs that do, it's basically impossible.

can't you work at 15 if you have some kind of permit hell, in my state you can work at 14 if you have the schoolboard's permission and obviously the rest of the laws regarding children in the work force apply

I'm not talking about legal work, I'm talking about good old fashioned "I'll do this if you can give me this" type deals.
