Why not make them kind of like PCs where there are certain GPUs you can purchase for them to upgrade them when you want? That will save both Sony and the buyer a lot of money depending on the buyer's budget.

That's exactly what they don't want..they make them power enough for about 8 years until they push it to their very limit and then make you buy a entirely new one for the same price you purchased it almost a decade ago,it's called capitalism and a way for them to make money and keep them alive,if they did your idea, they would go broke within a year.

hula, but the point is that Sony and Microsoft could develop their own GPUs for their consoles so that only their GPUs work.

and then when they make new consoles, they could upgrade the look, RAM, storage, processor, and more. They could also make newer GPUs compatible with only the newer consoles to make some extra money.

Shadow, but people do buy PCs, don't they? Their GPU depends on their budget, so consoles can do the same.

People who get consoles are either casual, prefer consoles, or don't wanna spend a crap ton to get a decent PC. Games will be optimized with their console they won't have to worry if it can run the latest game
