So I see that a lot of people question Skype or think its just a way for skids to get your IP. I will give you simple steps how to be a genius and don't have to worry about those kind of people, this is specifically aimed at groups on C&G and my own group, The RO-Force. This tutorial is done on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Machine, do not ask me how this works on Win8 and 8.1 as they have a different layout, however there is something called "Google" so help yourself finding out where everything is located. []Step 1: have your skype open and log in on it. []Step 1B: Update skype if not updated, already updated? skip to step 2. []Step 2: Go to Tools>Options>Advanced []Step 3: Under "Advanced" go to "Connection" and you will see a menu to configure how skype connects to the internet. []Step 4: Now before we configure your skype to connect through a proxy you need to actually have a list, for this go to google and look for "proxynova" if you typed it correct you should click on the first search result and it should navigate you to the proxynova website. []Step 5: Once navigated on the website hover your mouse over "Proxy Server List" and select the server located closest to your country, from there you want to look for a proxy server located closest to your state (if you are american) and have the proxy speed be in the green with the anonymity being "Elite". []Step 6: Once you found your proxy go back to skype and check the following: "Use port 80 and 443 for additional incoming connections" - this is for better call quality in overall, you can uncheck if desired. "Enable uPnP" - Again for better connectivity but leave this one checked as its good and does not leak your IP's "Allow direct connections to your contacts only" - Will only allow your contacts to be able to "grab" your IP basically, but with the use of resolvers this is pretty useless, check this anyways to heighten security. []Step 7: Almost there, now below "Use port 80 and 443 for additional incoming connections" there should be text saying either "Automatic proxy detection" or "SOCKS5" or "HTTPS". (THIS SHOULD BE BY DEFAULT ON AUTOMATIC PROXY DETECTION) Change this to HTTPS if still on default. []Step 8: Now enter the proxy IP in "Host" and enter the proxy Port in "Port". Keep "Enable proxy authentication" unchecked as these proxies do not require authentication! []Step 9: Now click on save and if I am correct Skype should tell you for the changes to go in effect a restart of the program is needed, simply just restart Skype and you should be good to go. []Step 10(OPTIONAL): If people ever got your IP it would be a good time to change it. Either ask someone you know who has knowledge about networking and knows how to change a "Dynamic" IP, if you know from personal knowledge that you have a "Static" IP contact your ISP to get a new IP assigned. Q&A Q: I use Mac, how do I get on a proxy? A: You use the power of google. Q: My proxy is not working!!! A: Repeat step 5 to 10 Q: People are still ddosing me qq A: Check Step 10. Q: I use Windows 8, how do I do this. A: You downgrade to Windows 7 ok. Made this for everyone since its annoying to see people freak out over some skids booting people off with a paid booter. Hope you manage to work things out and get rid of annoying stalkers/skids. And of course I did not forget you... SUPER BOZZ TL;DR If you use Skype, update it and limit direct connections to your contact list as shown above. If you add random people on Skype, you have 3 options to avoid a potential DDoS attack: Only add contacts that you know and trust in real life. Use a Skype proxy as shown above. Do not use Skype. __________________________________________________________________________________ EDIT 2015: as of 2015 Skype updated a lot which means that this thread needs additional adressing on making this work. Please log out of your Skype on all mobile devices and other machines that run Skype. Be aware that if you don't do as mentioned above people will still be able to obtain your IP. Simply log out of skype on all your machines and log in only on your desktop/laptop that can run the proxy on it. Make sure to do as mentioned BEFORE you follow the tutorial, not after. __________________________________________________________________________________

Thea, that does not work all they need is your username which can be retrieved really easily if you have over 300 contacts (me). This is really the best free solution against skids like *cough* finalization.

Yes Thea I know, but how did someone sent a request? They either have to know your "username" or have been put in a group call with you in order for them to add you. Once they sent the request its basically them having your IP by having your username. Lets not confuse Nickname and Username. Username is the name you log into skype with.

Cool.... Wait, why does this matter? Its not like they can use your IP to do anything substantial.

Yeah. If someone has your E-Mail, they have your IP. If someone plays Roblox with you, they have your IP. If you join a chat room, IP. Steam? They just have to follow you around to get it. There are still ways to backtrack it, too. Such as joining the same proxy. Yes, that means if you're both using the same proxy your at an even bigger risk, because now you guys are on the same network. Unless you use a proxy 24/7 forever, and no one else ever uses it, people are gonna find your IP anyways. Not that it matters.

Yes, if you play roblox with someone it's easy to get their IP.
