ok so i was on my dad's ipad ok my brother backed up everything on the pc and erased the stuff on the ipad (but theres a backup here so thats not a massive problem) but the real problem is that my dad got this ipad from my uncle. upon restarting the ipad we needed to know the apple id it first started with but since it used to be my uncle's ipad we dont actually know the id. ive gotten in contact with my uncle - who is in egypt - but he still hasnt replied to me. my dad is going to be so angry with me, and it would all be my brothers fault. is there any way to restore the ipad to its normal state to be able to do things as before without using the apple id previously used to start up the ipad? your help would be really useful guys, thank you so much... ♪Leopard Master♪

If the iPad is on iOS 7 or higher, the device is locked to the Apple ID of the iCloud account applied during setup But, if your brother was able to erase the iPad, it must not have been locked otherwise it would not have allowed him to restore. What is the specific error you're having? Why don't you have your own Apple ID? Is your family stupid?

Is it running iOS 7 or iOS 6 If it's running iOS 7, can you access the home screen and tap on icons? Or is it stuck on a screen saying "Activate iPad" or something like that?

Then there's no way past it. That's an anti-theft measure of iOS 7 and can only be taken off by the original owner (your uncle)
