To be honest, in my opinion anyway, the badge system is far superior to the Player Point system. It actually shows me where I got the achievement from what game, when I achieved it and how I did it. Player points do none of this, it's just a number.
I seriously feel player points is just a cash grab system. You input Robux to get an output of "Player points". Creators then come up with a game whereby you can 'harvest' player points (I say harvest cause a lot of players just throw ludicrous amounts of player points at you) and then allows players to 'harvest' player point easier/quicker if you spend Robux. See where I am going with this ? (hopefully you do).
It's a vicious circle.
I honestly don't know why Roblox couldn't just make the badge system better in general. Rather than having many updates that seem to reduce the system or just break it. Such as removing notifications and sounds.

I know Roblox are trying to make player points a similar system to "Trophy level" on the PlayStation or "Gamerscore" on the Xbox (at least that's what they said in their blogs) but they're missing out what made these systems good. On the PlayStation and Xbox, we can look into the "What, Where, When, How" of everything we have achieved. If we achieved everything in a game, we know we accomplished a pretty good feat.
In my view, player points would be better attached to Roblox badges, and Roblox just expand on the line of badges they have. This can help set aside the "Experienced" players from the rest as goes their "goal" according to the blog post.
Badges such as "Earn 100 place visits" could give 50 player points or something. Not only that, but it could stack up, so having any or all (all count towards it I guess, if you want) places having an amount totalling 1k, you'd get 500 player points and so on. Getting 100 Ko's gives 10 player points, referring friens gives you 5 or 200 if the referred friend got a BC membership.
Other things could be making models, t-shirts/ reaching a certain amount of sales, forum posts or even helping Roblox take down poorly behaved players via successfully reporting them would be good.

The player points exist for the same reasons scores in non-ROBLOX games exist. That is to give people something to be proud of and to help make the game more addicting. Also, selling PP like in point C isn't allowed. |
