This is a section of the rulebook about the usage of high level players in the NIHL. This is to stop teams using pro level players to destroy other teams. There is no restriction on who can play in goal for a team, and ALL REGISTERED goaltenders will be taught important skills at the Mewma School of Goaltending. In this rulebook 'pro' refers to a player who has been deemed either as a high level player by the league OR the league is classing them as such if they meet the following criteria (meeting any doesn't AUTOMATICALLY class you as a pro) -Played in BMHL -Played in RPHA -Played in RAAAHL when bananacb owned it. Notes: A player cannot be reclassed as a pro DURING a game, EXCEPT when it is his/her NIHL debut. If a player becomes very good during a game, and it is not their debut, then they can be automatically reclassed when the game ends. Restrictions: In 1v1 + gks, the skating player can NOT be a pro. In 2v2 + gks upwards, ONE pro can be played. In OT, teams may NOT ice a pro skater, unless they have pulled their goalie (see below section). If a goaltender is pulled in favour of the extra skater, this skater CAN be a pro, EVEN in OT. i.e: Team A have 2 skaters, 1 goalie. Team A may ice 1 pro skater, and 1 pro goalie Team B have 3 skaters, and a pulled goalie. Team B may ice 2 pro skaters, even though normally they could only ice 1. In the shootout, pro players can only shoot in EVEN numbered rounds, (Rounds 2, 4, 6, 8, 10), however, they can use pro players to shoot in rounds 10+.
