Rule 24 – Penalty Shot
The 'Spin-O-Rama' move, as described in Section 24.2 of the 2013-14 NHL Rule Book, will no longer be permitted either in Penalty Shot situations or in the Shootout.
WHY????

Because of the (potential) backwards motion.

"When you spin you go backwards, and going backwards is illegal in penalty shootouts correct, or nah?"
no the puck just has to be in constant forward motion |

They might as well just ban the whole shootout since it's not real hockey anyway.
I'd rather have ties.
If neither team can win in 60 + 5 minutes of actual hockey, neither deserves to win. |

@cap
They should make OT 10 minutes and have ties again.

I don't understand why sports have to be decided in a shooting contest when you can just play the real game.
Imagine how stupid it would be if NBA had shootouts where you have people just taking turns shooting free throws, or NFL having a field goal kicking competition. |

Even worse shootout idea: Major League Baseball having a home run derby |

NBA would be the most ridiculous.
