Good! And the Tigers are leading 3-1 in the sixth. "Any ballplayer that don't sign autographs for little kids ain't an American." -- Rogers Hornsby

After this game we still have 2 more against KC. Perhaps we can help you out a bit.

If the Sox can hold off the Royals and the Tigers prevail other the Tribe tonight, Tigers will gain first place by half a game. (Yeah, half a game doesn't mean much, but it could end up being something to build on. We'll see how this race turns out.) Uh-oh. 2 run home-run for Eric Hosmer. The lead has been cut to 3-2.

Who's on the mound for the Sox tonight, by the way?

Allen Webster, a rookie auditioning for a spot in next year's rotation. He has good stuff but REALLY lacks command.

Saw him pitch once last year when a Red Sox-Tigers game was being nationally televised. His stuff seems to look as if it can be electric, but then there are the command issues that get in the way. "Any ballplayer that don't sign autographs for little kids ain't an American." -- Rogers Hornsby

He really seems to struggle with adjustments. Its like the 2nd time around he just completely falls apart. I highly doubt he'll begin next season in the starting rotation unless he makes vast off-field improvements.

Maybe it'll just take some time for him. Take Carlos Carrasco of the Indians, for instance. For the first few years, he was destined to be a starter but never really made it as a starter at first. He made some starts earlier this year, didn't do that well, and was then inserted into the bullpen, where he thrived for a period of time. After doing pretty well out of the bullpen, he was given another shot in the starting rotation. And since then, he's been doing quite well as a starter.
