So this summer I actually want to do the Amigos project and volunteer in Peru or El Salvador to help communities in need, but the down-side to this is that it's a 6-week program and I'd probably miss football camp over the summer, which is also a 6-week deal going on. :/

Here's what you're looking at: 1. Living in South America for 1 1/2 Months. 2. Gridiron football. I think the answer is clear. This is my siggy. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

" I actually want to do the Amigos project and volunteer in Peru or El Salvador" We have that here in California where they come into the Spanish 3+ classes to give a video. The person who presented, an ex-highschool student (was senior last year) went to the Dominican Republic and found it all right. A person who went that I also know did not have such a good time there. There was some sort of food issue, blah blah blah, and yeah.

I've had mixed emotions about going as well, but ultimately decided not to because: 1) I get a lot of summer homework for the AP classes; 6 weeks is a good portion of my summer break (only like 9weeks off tbh) 2) I'm going to go to a place I don't know, be away from my family, and have to communicate with the civilians who I may not like. I've wanted to also go because: 1) 400 community service ours are you kidding meh? 2) I heard it can be pretty cheap through scholarships 3) I'm helping people out in a community, learning spanish, and literally have a legit chance to impact lives

trust me, take the trip. let me tell you some personal experience with this kind of stuff: around 2 years ago i had the oppurtunity to travel to bilbao spain with 4 friends. It was set up as a resident stay (Meaning i basically lived with a family for 4 weeks), and it was so awesome. every day we went and saw something differnt, we ate something differnt (alot of experimenting lol) and met alot of differnt people. in the end, the thing that really benifited me was the connections i made with people, for example the family i stayed with i still skype with sometimes. also, what you will learn is that the spanish they teach you in school is nothing like the spanish that is talked in real life. the spanish, atleast in bilbao spain, was all just purley slang, but very easy (and fun) to catch onto :) i would love to tell you more about all of this (because believe me, i could go on for days about the stuff i did in spain lmao) if u want. im actaully going back next summer (which im super stoked about)

I'm pretty inclined towards taking the trip tbh but it's still something that I have to think about for a couple of months

Dubya, from being a basque spaniard myself, Bilbao is very different from a rural or semi-modern city in South America.
