The disease spreads throughout the body. There are specialized cells, called antibodies, to kill these diseases. But why don't they kill them? They don't recognize the disease. This is where vaccines come into play. Vaccines are a weakened down version of the disease, much like a turtle with no shell. The antibodies recognize these weakened diseases as a germ to kill. So then when the disease enters the body again, it will kill the disease because it is recognized as one.

Antibodies are proteins developed by certain cell groups to disable and identify pathogens. Also, it should be noted that antibodies have very limited effectiveness against different strains of the same pathogen depending on how it mutates and it's frequency.
