When I say "contracts", you have already probably shied away from this idea, saying "EW, PAYING PLAYERS WITH VIRTUAL MONEY - DISGUSTING"
I'm not talking about PAYING PLAYERS, because, I agree, that's disgusting.
This type of "contract" is something that confines a player to a certain team for a certain amount of seasons, in which they are able to agree to a deal sent by the team owner, which fixes the following:
- Keepers: They're completely removed, replaced by the people that you signed for a multiple-season contract, which would carry over into the next season
- People who complain about people "holding them hostage" - the player has the opportunity to agree to the deal, and if they are stuck with a huge contract on a team they don't like, it's their fault
Still not convinced?
I understand, some of you (Death especially) is not liking the potential for stacking teams if everyone signs 45-season contracts to a team.
First off, the maximum length of the contract will be 3 seasons (it could potentially increase to 4 though). When a player's contract is down to the final season, teams can negotiate a contract extension to have the player remain on the team.
The first season of the contract is determined by the season they signed it. In other words, if you sign a 3-season contract halfway through the season, you're only going to get 2.5 seasons out of it.
If a player wishes to terminate the contract, they must pay a contract termination fee, which I'm not sure what that's going to be yet, and I'm open to suggestions for it.
Again, this is not to give players a bunch of virtual cash for playing on a virtual professional team. It's to help organize teams, because we can easily keep track of contracts and then highlight the expiration of contracts.
Speaking of, when a player's contract expires, they will head to the draft pool for the following season.
Only season contracts may be signed (1-3).
What's your thoughts on it, and how could we make this better?

And, in addition, instead of having "KEEPERS", the players who have time remaining on their contract will be brought into your roster for the next season, as I mentioned earlier.
There is NO LIMIT to the amount of players in that. However, remember that you will have to drop extra players by a certain date if you go over the roster maximum. You will have time to figure out who it is, maybe a week following the draft or so. After that, roster penalties will be issued.
Players who are drafted must sign a contract with the team no later than a week after the draft. After that, they will be released into free agency.

It's not like these contracts are going to do anything anyway because teams die every year. |

It's a good idea, but like Cap said, most of the teams die after 1 season. |

Except...the keepers...?
Yes, if a team is dropped, players go into the draft.

I think it's a good idea. I think we need to develop a system to stop people from breaking contract without paying the fee. I also agree with P21's idea of the 3 game contracts for try-outs or rookies.
Also, will players have a period where they can negotiate a new contract once their contract expires or will they be put right into the draft pool. |
|
|
if there are player contracts, then you must form a union. i will lead the union |
|
|
tato you crazy ass fool i will lead it |
|
|
'it' being the aforementioned union, of course |
|
|
The final season of their contract will be the season they negotiate.
