Does anyone else have wackjob parents who think its a bad idea to get vaccines? My mother is spewing this bull about the 'doctors being greedy' and the vaccine 'isn't that effective' (yes, she also believes vaccines cause autism in babies. not exactly sure what my opinion on this is yet -- but she trusts the word of jenny mccarthy) you know, jenny mccarthy. the PLAYBOY MODEL.

"and the vaccine 'isn't that effective'" "the vaccine isn't very effective" The opinions of people who know nothing about how vaccination works, why it works, or immunization in general are always really great to hear.

"The vaccine is farmed with dog livers. Yeah I won't be getting a flu shot." Living tissue is living tissue, friend. Would you prefer people get sick instead of lab animals?

Great. Guess I'll be in bed sick in a few months. I have virtually no immune system. Respect the science!

" Living tissue is living tissue, friend. Would you prefer people get sick instead of lab animals?" this is the part where i say that humans are evil and should get sick and die and they should go away

@TDA I'd rather kill lower beings than humans. Call me what you'd like. @Nos Vaccine protects against one specific strain of virus. Will protect you from THAT strain forever, but every now and then, a new strain pops up and you need a new vaccine for it.

yeah op my mum is your mum shes going on about how she doesnt trust the vaccines and how its a bad idea because you can get even more sick from getting the vaccines its just ridiculous

>"Plus, if the vaccine is so great, then why did I get sick 2 months after getting it and had the flu for a week?" ~ the fact that you think that there is only one strain of the flu...

It depends on how the vaccine itself was created. The actual effectiveness of any vaccine depends significantly on whether the Immune-System is capable of developing efficient antibodies against the modified version. Due to the potential consequences and complications that can arise from infection with the "Influenza" pathogen, however, receiving the vaccination will likely have excellent benefits as a preventive measure.

@TDA *shrug* I hardly think breeding animals to harvest them is self-destructive, but whatever. Perhaps we should also stop harvesting plants to eat?

"because you can get even more sick from getting the vaccines its just ridiculous" That's entirely possible, actually.
