Deathcore also has really bad vocals that sound like pig, hence pig squeals
Death metal doesnt sport these vocals or the riffs. |

If you don't know the difference between death metal and death core you should be ashamed. Death metal is a low pitched fart with fast riffs, Death core is someone shtting their pants with riffs that are like:

Honestly, it is a big step for Oli to make the change to from his harder vocals from before to whatever he's going for now.
I never really liked them, but that doesn't mean I'll hate on them because even though I might not like the new change, they'll get new fans that do.

but here I'll explain the ACTUAL difference between death metal and deathcore:
deathcore is a genre that takes influence from more metal influenced metalcore bands (they don't take as much influence from the more hardcore influenced metalcore bands)
so what you end up getting is death metal that takes some metalcore structures and vocals (usually associated with hardcore) like screams, shouts, and they also take the pig squeal from slam/brutal death metal. Death metal also has screams but it's more common in Deathcore. Another thing that deathcore takes is some of the melodic metalcore riffs (riffs that were originally inspired by death metal bands like Carcass and At the Gates). Deathcore of course has the blast beats, tremolo picking, death growls, etc, from death metal. An important thing that deathcore takes from metalcore is the breakdown, which is originally from hardcore, the breakdowns that metalcore uses however have a much more metallic sound to them then traditional hardcore breakdowns. |
