How about a new thing called a local ambient? If the rest of the place is a low ambient (like a horror game) there could be a lantern with a local ambient in it, so theres a higher-light ambient near the lantern, but it fades away farther from the lanter, and it has a settable ambient and light range. It should also be colorable. Also, it can be set lower than the place ambient for underground or (in space games) a planet where its night.

Yeah i mean, some places should have more then one ambiant, say, one half is dark and other is light! I toatly agree! then we can make stuff like flashlight more realistic :D EPIC POST EPIC WIN
