i wanted an iphone 5C, but evidently just to use it, even for calling, you need a data plan which is an extra $100 a month... so i cant get it

What provider do you have? You can get a data plan for like $15 on AT&T and probably most other providers.

Well thats where we get into technical terms. Off contract you pay full price, around 300-500 depending on the storage space, but pay way less for a plan. Or you could get an android and use calls over wifi
