I've never used the D20 system, but I feel I have to make a reply. For the sake of us all... In my homebrew system the zombies are controlled by the emotions of those around them, meaning that as long as you are calm, the zombies are harmless. The GM keeps track of "stress points" for each PC, and the amount of these translates directly into the zombies' stats.
