Every game I play, i'm about 10-30 minutes in, and my screen just goes black and the hard drive activity light shows nothing, basically my hard drive doesn't receive or send anymore commands after my screen turns off...But my computer is still running so I have to hold the power button to force shutdown..Whats going on?! |

hard drive failure prevention from windows,when that happens the only thing running is your CPU,GPU,RAM,heatsink and charger (in other words,basic BIOS/UEFI/EFI tasks).

depends on how much you use it,i have home servers that get defective drives in less than half a year

yeah if you keep it on overnight and/or hold it from an awkward place (display,corner of the base,etc) while moving it,or just moving it and that only,it can kill your HD a lot faster.

I know about hard drives failing if its moved around a lot while on, and my computer is on a flat surface, most of the time. |

This happened to me before OP
I would turn on my PC and play something but a few minutes later it would shutdown (sometimes with BSoD). I found out it was the hard drive that died. |

Aghhgh I don't have enough money to fix it. I recently realized it wasn't only roblox that made my computer do this, but once I was playing.....Minecraft.....it just shut off. So technically this isn't a roblox-related problem now.... :/ |

What you can do is a basic HDD Test. Please send me your laptop make and model and year, if possible. |

run chkdsk from command line
i used to have a USB with a DOS tool that gave me a percentage of the hard drive's life,forgot the name but a drive is considered bad when it hits 80% (albeit i had functional drives that were at 28%).

no,if it says anything about perimeters then you have a bad format.
it's a lemon,you'll need to reformat your drive (no quick formatting) with a windows install disc and reinstall windows.
