This is probably going to get buried in in this forum, but here we go.
The Idea of Private Servers seems to be a great idea, but there are definitely some notable problems. I'm not criticizing ROBLOX here, I know it's in beta.
1. If you want any kind of in-game administration rights, the owner of the game needs to come in and give them to you (admin scripts, developer console, etc). It would be nice if "game.CreatorId" was the --creator-- of the VIP Server, not the developer of the place.
2. There's no way to switch between the "Personal Server" style of saving, and the "Game Place" style of saving. This might not be much of a big problem, but sometimes friends, want to keep what they have done on their server. You also can't restart the server fresh from the data model.
3. Developers don't get paid anything for the 200 R$ required to make a VIP Server. 200 R$ can be a lot for someone just to make a VIP server, and it at least should be going somewhere, I don't think they should get 200 full R$, maybe just 20% of it.
4. This might be the most suggestive of all of my ideas, but people should be allowed to add groups to their VIP server. That way, groups can have a server party, without anyone interfering.
Well, this sums up my list of problems, and ideas for VIP Servers, if you liked it, or just have some criticism for it, feel free to write a reply. Also, some of the things mention may have been added, so don't flame. |

1 - True, the person who pays has "created the server", but I don't agree that the CreatorId of the place should point to the player who created the server. If you want to muck around with admin scripts, consoles, etcetera, then the owner of the place should be the one giving it to you in person - as is the case with normal servers.
2 - This wouldn't work with a number of games (and a number of them wouldn't want it anyway). What happens when something breaks and it saves? What happens if the place creator wishes to update the game? And so on. Both of these supplied example scenarios would mean that the server that you bought would need to be wiped and started over. t
If a creator of a game really wanted this then they could, to a degree, create this themselves. They would achieve this through using a DataStore and saving data about the place. Such examples include "brick positioning" and spawn points. Alternatively, if it's a building game, the creator could save the player's creation using 'data persistence'.
3 - If you had read the blog article you would know that developers will receive a portion of the 200R$ in a future update to VIP servers. Do remember that this is only the first release.

Well one, the developer should only get 10 percent of what you paid for the server actually, that way they can't scam you out. And two, this is a very early release of it. Get it through your skull |

Support, but it's called DataModel, not data model. |
