Take some inspiration from sonic games. Those are games about just running through a level, and they do a great job at it (well, the good ones do anyways). You should also break the habit of having levels be in a U shape. Put more though into level design and go past the generic U shaped level with a theme. I played Speed Run 4 when it was released, and the only stages I can remember are the moon stage with all the platforming rocks, the candy/icecream stage, and the rainbow stage because that one was in the thumbnail. The other 27 or so I remember nothing of. |
