What would be wrong with it? If somebody makes a bad username, then people could report it, and a moderator or admin decide what happens. This goes for underscores as well.
But what if somebody made a username like Shedletsky*spaces*?
On the chat, it shows your entire username, so it would look like Shedletsky : *message*
Spaces don't even cause problems with scripting, because they can just use [" "] to have a space.
If roblox ever had this, why did they remove it?
It just seems silly to me why we can't make usernames like R0BL0X0.2.

Nah, underscores are fine, and as you said, somebody could do like, "Shedletsky ".
The only good things spaces'd do that underscores can't is look better, play tricks better, and allow more of one name.

I can see why we aren't allowed to have spaces, but why we've never been allowed to use underscores and periods baffles me. |

Back in early-early-EARLY ROBLOX you could use periods. Check out Erik.Cassel...; or is that just because he was the founder... Hmm...

Also, if you want to have a space to feel special it won't be special anymore when everyone has spaces. |
