I am tired of all that lousy comments spam getting in the way of the real comments. Something has to be done about it, and believe it or not, there are some relatively simple solutions that could easily fix the problem. Solution 1: Make a simple filter. ========================= This one is so simple that I could almost do it myself. (Even with my limited knowlege of JavaScript and PHP) Create a filter so that anything containg the words: "Post this message" or "Come to my place" would be un-able to be posted. This filter could be easily updated to stop the latest spam attacks and while it is true that filters can be bypassed easily, this would serve as a very good deterant for those who would try to spam this way. Solution 2: One Report fits all. ======================== When a mod deletes a comment, make it so that not only that comment is deleted, but also any comments containing the exact same text. The deleted comment would also be stored to prevent future comments with the exact same text from being posted. This would be an especialy useful tool for stopping the "Post this Message" type spam attacks. Solution 3: A comments rating system =============================== Make a comments rating system to allow users to rate a particular comment as either good or bad. (Similar to the system on youtube) If a comment gets a rating of -5 or worse then the comment would be immediately removed. To prevent abuse users would only get a certain number of ratings per hour. This would be a great way to give the mods a break and allow the users to help with getting rid of the spam. Solution 4: A simple warning message. ============================ This one might not be as effective as the other solutions, but it would be the easiest by far and it would be very helpful in informing new users. Put a warning message next to the comment button that explains about chain spam and other spam types and warns users that spam is against the rules and can get you banned. Solution 5: A Potential Spam Filter ========================= Make it so that if a filter picks up certain keywords in the message that MIGHT mean that the message is spam, then a dialog box pops up warning the user that spam is against the rules and that they might want to re-consider posting that message if it is spam. This would serve as a very good deterrent. Let me know what you think, Ajedi32

<3 Well organized Thread Solution 1: Make a simple filter. ========================= Agreed. The forums have a hyperactive one, but the comments don't have any. Solution 2: One Report fits all. ======================== Agreed. Solution 3: A comments rating system =============================== Could still be abused; Enough alts would be plenty of comment deletion power, and limiting it also limits the comment explody-ness. I also wouldn't trust ROBLOX's society to make the right decision. Solution 4: A simple warning message. ============================ Agreed. People might stop believing that Telamon actually offered to give 1000000000 robux, although you'd be surprised... Solution 5: A Potential Spam Filter ========================= Agreed.

@Meelo For #3, perhaps there could be a limit on how many times a particular comment can be rated by an IP address.

All are good and VERY easy to impliment, however #4 might encourage MORE spam due to people saying that "2 many ppl got rikc so u gota nt liten to teh adminz or u not git rich lol!"

Well, it wouldn't ENCOURAGE more spam but yea, a spammer could put "And don't listen to that message next to the post button" in their post this message spam. Then it would simply be a matter of who people decide to listen to.

what about if you wopuld get banned for posting a single clearly spam message like the come to mah place or copy this msg and get tix messages... (not like ones where you talk something or commetn AND ask to come to your place) at least people wopuld learn... the ban would be just few days... or some kind of system like this: you post some comment with words that could be in a spam post, like tix, bux, hats, free, copy or something like that (they could be used in normal posts pretty much too...) and if the message contains some of them, it will be checked like decals before itll be posted. (messages without them will get posted instantly)

@ajedi's recent post prehaps putting a message about that on top?

They wouldn't get banned, they just wouldn't be able to post the message in the first place. And it has to be the EXACT text. Not have that same text in the message, the message has to be EXACTLY the same.

@Radioaktiivinen For your first idea, that's pretty good except maybe they could just "Mute" the person instead of totally banning him. For example, after a person who posts a clearly spam message get's their message deleted, the mod who deleted the comment would be able to check a checkbox to make the poster of that comment unable to post comments for a given period of time. And for your second idea, that's even better than #5! Great idea!

how to combat "ignore the message" spam. put it on the filter X3 or put it on TOP of the comments page before you see a single comment, and mentions those.

Yes, exactly! Where one solution fails there are other solutions to back it up. Oh, and I would hesitate to put so many warnings about spam on a single page, it's best to have a system that is as un-intrusive as possible.

"oh hey I didnt know the god of "Convincing" and the god of "Well written" was in town XD " I know. I wouldn't call it convincing, as ideas like these are awesome without persuasion. Definitely well written though. I hate it when there's no organization system that works for both the post and the replies.
