I am a little fed up. Over the past two months, I have gotten over 30 PM's from random accounts asking me to click on a link for free robux. My brothers account has the same problem and I am sure MANY ROBLOXIANS are fed up with this clutter in their inbox. I don't know what the source is but its a new account each time and its a seemingly endless stream of off-site links. Post below if you would like ROBLOX to do something about the issue or if you have similar problems. |

That thing is called "ignoring".
If ignoring is hard, then that's your own problem. |

So just ignore the problem? How about problem solve? Some new ROBLOXIANS might actually go to those links and get their account hacked or accidently get a virus on their computer. And that problem isn't something worth looking into? Denial gets you nowhere. |

"new" robloxians is a lame excuse. They can learn that you mustn't touch links. |

Your fault for clicking the links, no support

That's their fault. They should be smart enough not to put in a username and pass into some random place. Also, it says on ROBLOX not to put in your username and pass anywhere.

First of all, I'm not saying I ever clicked the links but rather I'm saying its an obnoxious problem that is easily solvable by ROBLOX. Also, it could potentially harm new players. Why not invest time into fixing it? Whats the downside? Sure, I could just ignore it but why do you think these people send hundreds of them? They know for every 1000 people that don't click on it, one person will. This is something that shouldn't even be a debate. ROBLOX NEEDS to invest time into fixing this.
And I don't want to here things like "It's your own fault" or "don't be stupid enough to click on the links" or "just ignore it" because that is just negativity that has no value in this debate and it solves nothing. |
|
|
It's not negativity, wtf? Sorry but no support

Fine. Negativity was the wrong word. But how about instead of picking one word out of my response, you actually pay attention to what I am saying. I mean come on, am I asking too much here? I know S&I has a historically terrible community but how is what I am saying not a fair suggestion? What's not to support? |
|
|
What's not to support? Well, you can't stop people making accs.

That's true but ROBLOX can use measures to counteract the spam. I just saw a thread today suggesting that accounts under 5 days old shouldn't be able to send messages.Or it could be something as simple as an IP ban everytime a person recieves one of these messages. There are PLENTY of ways to prevent it or slow it down considerably. All I'm asking is that ROBLOX implement some. |
|
|
They can't

They can't? It's a pretty simple suggestion that I don't see taking very long to implement. How would you know if they could or not anyways? |

@DarkImperiator
Well no, you cannot stop people from making new accounts, but you can make it a more complicated process, that takes more time.
They could implement emai1 verification, and make it necessary before the player can PM, comment, or post on the forums.
Then after emai1 verification, make it so there's a 2 week waiting period before the player can PM, comment, or post on the forums.
Make it so players cannot post links. period.
(Aside from Youtube)
Or if it is possible, make new players take a test on phishing awareness, and the rules as well.
Everyone responding to this idea is forgetting one very important thing:
Roblox is a kid's game, and kids don't know any better!
Yeah it's the parent's responsibility to teach them these things... but parents aren't perfect either, and make mistakes. (Much like the kids)
Maybe if everyone took a moment to stop thinking only about themselves, they could realize that there are other people out there, naive people who may not be educated enough to recognize phishing, or even know what it is
tl;dr Kids don't know any better, make it harder to make accounts so scammers are discouraged- or at least inconvenienced. |

@Treticle,
Your late. They already down that

^I'm pretty sure they don't do all of those things he mentioned. |

They do everything I just suggested? Wow...
Then again, it really shouldn't come as a surprise to me... last time I created an account was 2010... |
|
|
Yes they do,
You need a verified account to message people

That's only one of my ideas, and being that PM spam is still a problem it clearly isn't enough, so should be open for discussion. |
|

Your fault for not turning off messages. Gg. :) |
