Not gonna lie, made me consider too. It really shows what war can do to you which was really good to people who consider joining. Also shows that you can really help people. [dtlm]

Igniited, I mainly took out of it that you can really help people and there are some really brave people in the military who put their lives on the line everyday. [dtlm]

I'm aware of that. It's just in general some people put their lives on the line just so we can stay home and not have a care in the world. [dtlm]

He wants his life to matter, Igniited. He wants to be someone who'd risk something for their country, their own life so everyone else wouldn't have to. I didn't see all of American Sniper, but a thing about what I did see was that a bunch of the people he killed were going to kill many people. I honestly want to have nothing to do with the military, but I understand why people would want to join.

I wouldn't say it's personal interests. Obviously if you attempt to join the military on the personal interests I do not think you will get far. [dtlm]

Go a head and join the military , you will fail because you do not see the point of it, only because of a movie? You do realize the military is nothing like in the movies right? Chris Kyle was an asshoIe in real life, and had such a high kill count because 70% of his targets were Civilians who were used by the Taliban. And even then, he suffered from several forms of PTSD, and got killed because PTSD not a bullet, ironic huh? No one in the military is a "hero" as much as anyone n@zi Germany is, you are only a Hero to your government and their interests, I would know considering I have family in the Military (Some with High ranking positions) Anyone who joins the military in hopes of becoming a Hero or being brave or protecting others is going for all the wrong reasons, in fact Hero's are the ones you will never know, never hear from and never recognize Have fun at Basic Training (If you can even handle it, you are overweight lol )

just so you guys know joining a branch of the military doesn't = getting deployed for college i'm hoping to become an engineer, and yes it's possible i can get deployed to work on structure and such but i could have a job within the airforce or navy as an engineer working on vehicles, and if i become an officer from the officer academy i can go straight into leadership im gray

If you think America needs the Military count it has, then you are an idiot. In fact, I'd reckon 85% of the military is actually more or less a Show boat for others Powers, The US army has 3 Pillars, their Air force, their Nuclear Capabilities, and their Naval Anti Missile System, the extra fodder is a just a bonus

Draco, I don't think he really consider himself a hero, in the movie it didn't seem he was a big fan of the term hero. But I understand where you are coming from. He also didn't enjoy killing the innocent people or children who were involved. Not sure if he really felt that depending on how accurate the movie was to the book. [dtlm]

Joining the military is generally for personal interests. They glorified the American Sniper, so people want to feel just as important. It's more for self-recognition than it is for the army, and the army does it to maintain its position as a world power, so it's a win win. I do agree with the propaganda, I'm just saying that he's not doing it because he thinks he'll be MLG no scoping kids who do his mom, he's doing it because he A. Realizes that he can make some sort of a difference (true, but not guaranteed, very situational) and B. Thinks he can make as much of a difference as the guy in the movie, which is false because anyone who's done research on the guy knows that the movie over-glorified him *just a tad bit* lol. Although, my optimistic side hopes that the movie glorified the good kills, so hopefully those who join will be true-hearted non-butts who deserve to be over-glorified.

Daniel, I am just speaking about how Joining Military=Automatic Hero is not true. A lot of the Military Personal that I know myself have either Ego issues or entitlement issues lmfao, I can't take it seriously when those asshoIes are considered "heros" by an Ignorant majority population in the US. In fact, most Americans dont even know what a Terrorist is, or how by definition the Sons of Liberty and the Founding fathers are considered Terrorist. In fact most Terrorism correlated with Economical gains, not for simple military purposes, Terrorism goes all the way back to the Silk Road
